"Work in progress" is how Jennylyn Mercado describes her journey back to fitness six months after giving birth via Cesarean section delivery (read here).
But the photo the actress-singer recently shared on Instagram says otherwise. It shows her slim figure effortlessly doing Pilates, just like before she got pregnant with her and her husband Dennis Trillo's first child together. (They're actually a blended family, read here).
Jennylyn's friends and followers in social media pointed out in the comments section that she's one hot momma. As some of them commented, "Parang hindi nanganak."
The mom of two first posted going back to Pilates in early June 2022, or just a month after giving birth in April. Some of her mommy followers, knowing she had a CS operation, wondered if exercise was already allowed that early in post-childbirth.
In one of the articles published by Smart Parenting, ob-gyn Dr. Teresa Bongala said exercise is not allowed during the first six weeks after giving birth via CS to allow the body to heal. Then again, she said, it still depends on how the new mom's body is recovering. She instead recommended walking and basic stretching.

Jennylyn didn't mention in her post the type of Pilates moves she was then doing, but she tagged her instructor. Meaning, she has professional supervision and presumably the go-signal of her doctor.
If you've had CS like her, it's best to consult your doctor before exercising again or doing any physical activity.
If you've had a normal vaginal delivery, you can try these easy-to-do-at-home postpartum exercises:
- Household chores and daily activities
- Walking
- Yoga
- Zumba
- Dancing
For Jennylyn and her fellow celebrity moms Pauleen Luna and Bianca Gonzalez, Pilates works wonders for their bodies. Read here why.
