Bianca and JC first tied the knot in December 2014 in an intimate beach wedding at the Lagen Island Resort, El Nido in Palawan. Five years later, they got *married a second time as they renewed their wedding vows in 2019 for their 5th wedding anniversary at the same place. Now, a decade into their marriage, the couple has once again reaffirmed their commitment. Here’s a look at Bianca’s heartfelt insights on why she and husband JC find value in renewing their vows.

Marking milestones in their journey

In her post, the TV-host, writer and advocate for women and children’s rights explained how a couple’s vows to each other can change through different phases of marriage–at the start, at the five year mark, and after ten years–each representing distinct stages of the relationship and even family life.

Bianca shared that these vow renewals are not grand gestures but a celebration of milestones in their journey, one that highlights their evolving love and commitment to each other. She wrote, “We don’t really do *grand* celebrations for family occasions, but in simple and intimate ways, there are milestones we’d like to honor.”

Celebrating how their love changes over time

A couple and their love for each other can change over the years in a marriage, and Bianca recognizes that, writing:

“Your vows when you get married are full of love, hope, and idealism, both on cloud 9, excited to head into a life together as partners. 

“Your vows FIVE years in change dramatically. You are more aware of the ups and downs of marriage, you’re adjusting to life as husband and wife but also as new parents to (those who have) small kids, you love each other but that love is evolving, and you’re no longer each other’s top priority—for this moment.

“Your vows TEN years in are different, too. You’re more certain of your love and commitment, you are grounded in reality but also looking forward to the future chapters of life, and you feel so much peace and joy and contentment in your heart.”

Gratitude for a supportive partner

Through it all, Bianca recognizes the importance of having a supportive partner and expresses profound gratitude for JC, “I thank God and the universe every day for the gift of a life partner who has made my life even more beautiful than I ever thought it could be.” She acknowledges the imperfections of their marriage, but also emphasizes that their shared values, mutual understanding and love are keys in making their relationship work: “Hindi perfect, hindi laging kilig at saya, madaming inisan at tampuhan, may mga mahirap na desisyon, but having a husband like JC who shares the same values and supports me in the one million other things I want to do in life aside from being a wife and mother ~~ has inspired and motivated me to give my best to everything.”

A reminder of wise choices

Every vow renewal reminds Bianca that she and JC made the right choice in each other, highlighting an advice she received before getting married: “I can say for sure that the one most important advice I got before getting married is: your life partner can make your life beautiful or make your life miserable, so choose wisely.”

Honoring a love that grows stronger

While some couples may choose vow renewals as a way to rekindle their romance or relationship, for Bianca, it’s a way to honor the depth and evolution of their love. She ends her post with a sweet and lighthearted confession, “Maybe I just really like marrying you.”
