Dennis Trillo’s Sweet Dad Joke For Jennylyn’s Birthday

Dennis Trillo apparently has his own arsenal of dad jokes, and he used one of them in an Instagram post as he celebrated the birthday of his wife, Jennylyn Mercado. In the caption, he playfully wrote:

“Knock knock, who’s there? BAKAL.

“BAKAL who?

“BAKAL lalo mo akong mahalin pag nakita mo ito [muscle and flying kiss emojis].”

Following this, Dennis expressed his deep gratitude towards Jennylyn, their family’s guiding light, stating, “Sa aming ILAW ng tahanan, na higit pa sa pagbibigay ng Liwanag ang alay sa aming pamilya. Nais kong ipaalala sa iyo na andito kami para sa iyo sa bawat oras, mamahalin at aalagaan [heart emoji].”

Dennis and Jennylyn’s family

In her Cosmo.ph interview, Jennylyn described her current life as “stronger and happier,” celebrating the completeness of her family: “Finally, buo na kami. May mommy, may daddy… Unlike noon bilang single mom, medyo mahirap talaga and may struggle.”

She also reflected on her motherhood experience with her two children, emphasizing the difference this time around, “Masarap din yung feeling na natututukan ko yung daughter ko na simula nung newborn siya, infant siya ngayon toddler na siya na hindi ko na-experience nung first time [with Jazz].”

Jazz, Jennylyn’s son with ex-boyfriend Patrick Garcia, was born in 2008. Jennylyn raised him as a single mom until marrying Dennis in 2021.

“Ngayon happy ako na talagang natutukan ko yung paglaki ng daughter ko. So, excited pa rin ako kung ano pa ‘yung ilu-look forward ko habang lumalaki siya. Hindi ko na-experience sa firstborn ko yun. So ngayon bumabawi talaga ako,” she told Cosmopolitan Philippines.

And both Jennylyn and Dennis know the importance of spending quality time together, as Jennylyn shared, “As much as possible, gusto ko, gusto naming dalawa ni Dennis, na makapagbigay talaga ng mas maraming time para sa kanila [their kids].”

Jennylyn on balancing motherhood and career

As Jennylyn prepares for her career comeback this year, she acknowledges the challenges of excelling both as a mother and in her career. “Yung marami kasi na kapag nagka-anak na, nakakalimutan na yung sarili, nakakalimutan na yung asawa, naka-focus na lang sa anak nila, sa isang bagay,” she observed.

For Jennylyn, balance means making an active effort to remain connected: “Kailangan tinatrabaho pa rin lahat–yung kelangan naglalambingan pa rin kayo [ng husband mo], yung nagde-date pa rin kayo, hindi mo pa rin siya nakakalimutan. At the same time, yung nakatutok ka pa rin sa daughter mo, tapos kaya mo pa rin isingit yung career mo, or kaya mo mag full-time habang inaalagaan yung family mo. Hindi naman impossible eh. Marami namang talagang nakakagawa nung sabay-sabay, ‘di ba?”

Dennis’ message underlines that Jennylyn is not just the light of their home but also shines in maintaining her own brilliance while navigating the complexities of family life and a dynamic career.
