It’s no secret that Isabelle Daza enjoys a close-knit bond with her nanny aka Yaya Luning. The famous yaya, who has been with their family since her childhood days, even goes on out-of-the-country trips with them!
In their recent travel to France, Belle took to Instagram to share hilarious clips of their experience going on a flight together. With a toddler and a baby in tow, traveling isn’t as seamless for the actress, who opted to have her beloved yaya by her side. But as it turns out, she has to do all the heavy lifting herself, Belle jokes.
“When my mom asks how we are doing at the airport,” Belle wrote, posting a photo of Yaya Luning, who is a senior citizen, sitting comfortably on a wheelchair with her sons Baltie and Valentin. “Actually it’s @yayaluning who pays me a monthly salary.”
We understand how some netizens may misunderstand the humor, but parents who have a tight bond with their own nannies, especially childhood nannies, know there's way more love underneath these funny posts. For many, these posts brought back funny memories with our own Yaya Lunings.
3 Reasons why we adore our own childhood nannies
1. She can forget about the checked-in luggage, but she never forgets to check on you
Her forgetfulness adds bursts of laughter to otherwise stressful days, knowing we will experience the same when we grow older. But like our own mothers, our nannies never forget to ask how we are, or make us feel that we are cared for. Each nanny is different—some checks on you with a hug or a pat in the back, and some with a bowl of your favorite sinigang.
2. She treats you like family, and allows you to treat her likewise
Filipinos are big on family, and we treat our kasambahays like one of our own. That includes teasing each other and enjoing inside jokes! She can be like an angry mom sometines, or a naglalambing na Grandma who asks you to do things for her—like pushing her wheelchair at the airport.
3. She's got your and your child's backs!
When bashers slay you online or when work gets too stressful, our nannies have ways to defend and protect us. It can be through words, hugs, a cup of coffee, or simply by sitting beside us and listening patiently while we vent out. But the best show of affection is when they extend their love to our children, treating them like their own. It melts our hearts when they find ways to wrap something for our kids on Christmas despite their humble salaries. They truly are gifts from heaven.
A book for Yaya Luning
Belle ended her entertaining series of IG stories with a photo of the book she penned in honor of her nanny. She says, “I think I’m going to rewrite this book,” replacing Yaya Luning with Yaya Belle. “It’s not available yet btw!”
Belle wrote a children’s book in honor of her Yaya Luning earlier this year. She aims to celebrate the special relationship she has formed with her caregiver, whom she treats as an extended part of their family.
Yaya Luning has amassed quite a following from netizens, too! She even has her own Instagram account to document her love for her alagas, including Belle's sister Ava. You can follow her here.
