Iya Villania revealed on Monday, January 10, 2022, that she tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in isolation away from her three kids.
"This post is for all mamas and papas that are going thru the same thing and have to endure not hugging and kissing their children. This was the hardest thing to accept upon learning I was + [COVID-positive] (and I’m not talking about my pregnancy test)," Iya wrote in an Instagram post. This comes a week after her announcement that she's pregnant with her 4th child.
The post was accompanied by a photo of her three kids, Primo, Leon, and a crying Alana behind a glass door that's meant to keep the distance between Iya and her children. "The situation here in Casa Arellano," as the celebrity mom described.
Fighting COVID-19 is one thing but for a mom to be away and not able to hold her children is another. This is what Iya feels about having to go through quarantine. Although her two sons are dealing with the situation bravely, it's Alana that she is most concerned about.
"Primo gets it, Leon is okay too because he follows his kuya’s lead, but Alana? Boy, it broke my heart to see her cry for me and not being able to console her even for a bit," Iya shares.
Despite this, Iya chooses to maintain a positive outlook. Speaking from experience, the expecting mom even offered some words of encouragement to other parents who are also battling the virus.
She says: "So, mamas in this same situation, you are not alone! My tip? Try not to cry! Coz the tears will only cause nasal congestion and lengthen recovery! I know, I know… ang hirap! Man, I CRIED!"
She adds, "But you have to get over it as soon as you can and get in that speed car towards recovery for your family. Kapit guys!"
For now, Iya and her husband, Drew Arellano who is also in quarantine, "are still hanging onto that little chance that maybe the kids are spared" from the virus.
The Philippines continue to see a spike in COVID-19 cases since the end of the holiday season. On Jan. 10, 2022, for the first time since COVID-19 hit the country, the Philippine Department Of Health recorded over 30,000 new COVID-19 cases.
