If You're A Small Vendor, This Cash Assistance Program Can Help You Get Back On Your FeetYou'll be able to sell your goods online even if you don't have access to an online platform.by Kitty Elicay .
Among those who have been hit the hardest by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) are the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and those who work in the transport sector, whose operations were suspended during the ECQ. While the national government has various financial assistance options like the Social Amelioration Program, vendors and tricycle operators may also benefit from the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) new e-market project called the Community Mart.
With more consumers relying on online delivery services and buying their essentials, including food, online, Vice President Leni Robredo is aiming to help small-time vendors who have no access to online platforms, as well as tricycle drivers who lost their sources of income due to the ECQ. First launched in the Kamuning Market in Quezon City, the initiative has now reached Pasig City, where Robrado has partnered with the city government under Mayor Vico Sotto.
Through the Community Mart mobile app, residents in selected areas in Pasig City can now have meat and vegetables delivered to their homes, which will come from the Pasig Mega Market. These areas include:ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

In Quezon City, residents located in the following barangays can also avail of the service. The good will come from the Kamuning Market.
- Sacred Heart
- Laging Handa
- South Triangle
- Roxas District
How it works
To avail of the service, users may download the Community Mart app from Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS). In an earlier post, the OVP said that same-day delivery is available, with a 12nn cut off. Currently, they can only accept Cash on Delivery as they’re still working to make other modes of payment available.
Once the order has been processed, buyers will proceed to the vendors to purchase the goods. Then, dispatch officers will assign the delivery to tricycle drivers, who will bring the goods to the resident.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
In an interview with Inquirer.net, Mayor Sotto said that the app-based palengke service is hitting three birds with one stone. “It will provide a source of income for tricycle drivers who have few passengers right now, increase the sales of our vendors, while minimizing the number of close contacts that buyers have.”
In a Facebook post, Robredo’s office said that they reached Php71,000 in sales during their first day of operations at the Pasig Mega Market. “Umaasa rin tayo na patuloy ang suporta para sa ating programa, dahil malaking tulong ito sa mga kababayan nating naudlot ang kabuhayan dahil sa COVID-19,” said the OVP.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
