Lindsay Custodio Recalls Estranged Husband's 'Red Flag' During Wedding Day

Former actress Lindsay Custodio, who appeared on the famous '90s variety show Ang TV, opened up about the traumatic experience caused by her estranged husband, Frederick Cale, at their wedding.

Lindsay and Frederick had a church wedding on May 13, 2022. The two seemingly had an enjoyable time, as seen in their wedding photos. However, little did the public know that the former actress underwent a stressful and traumatic experience on what was supposed to be a joyous occasion.

In an interview with Pep.ph, the traumatized bride disclosed her version of the story. Lindsay recalled that on the day of their wedding, Frederick insisted that they stop by a bank on Kamuning Road, Quezon City, to deposit the check gifts they received before heading to the wedding reception at a restaurant on Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City.

The former actress claimed that Frederick allegedly used the checks and cash gifts they received from their principal sponsors to pay for their wedding reception expenses.

Lindsay and Frederick's trouble in paradise

"We opened a joint bank account prior to our church wedding," Lindsay began her statement.

"Nag-insist siyang pumunta kami sa bangko after the church wedding ceremony." She continued, "Ang mga tseke sa bangko na-clear na at cash gifts ang pinambayad sa credit card niya."

Lindsay acknowledged the abuse, but she admittedly didn't think of it as a red flag then. Naturally, she was also shocked, as she never expected that Frederick would use their cash gifts to pay for their wedding reception. 

The singer also claimed that when they were at the bank, her husband asked the teller to open her personal account. He allegedly wanted her to withdraw money to add to their payment.

"Sinabi ko sa kanya, puwede ba 'yung pera sa personal account ko, akin na lang, so I can use it for my personal expenses," Lindsay recounted what she told him. However, Frederick didn't agree and demanded she should pay his credit card. 

In the end, Lindsay yielded in fear that they may cause a scene at the bank, still wearing their wedding garb. She further claimed that at the reception, he also took the cash gifts of their other principal sponsors for the additional expenses.

"Ang lakas ng boses niya. Siyempre, nagtitinginan yung mga tao. Ang takot ko noon, baka may mag-video sa amin, tapos i-post," Lindsay explained.

She continued, "So, I just agreed to what he wanted. Ibinayad sa credit card niya from the fund na idineposit namin sa joint account, pati 'yung sa personal account ko, ibinayad din."

Despite everything, the singer-actress set the record straight, "I was against it talaga. I was expecting na nag-offer siya ng kasal so he should be prepared for it. Iaasa lang pala niya dun sa mga cash gift sa kasal."

Lesson learned

On their wedding, Lindsay realized what kind of man she had married. She immediately regretted her decision.

"Hiyang-hiya ako sa sarili ko, pero dumiretso pa rin kami sa reception," Lindsay shared her predicament.

She then explained what she felt when Frederick got hold of more cash during the reception. "Dun naman po sa reception, after the program was done, kinuha niya rin ang cash gifts na ibinigay sa amin at 'yun ang ipinambayad niya sa [additional] expenses."

Lindsay reiterated, "Ang sa akin, nung panahon na yon, nahihiya ako dahil kasal na kami. Iniisip ko kung ano ang sasabihin ng mga tao."

"Parang biyuda ako, nagpakasal ako uli, tapos maghihiwalay lang kami. I really wanted to save the marriage." It was years later when Lindsay married again after her first husband, Julius Caesar Platon II, passed away.

Frederick returned to Canada shortly after they got married. Meanwhile, Lindsay ended all ties with him in June 2023. She then affirmed her decision to pursue legal action against her estranged partner for the alleged abuses she endured.
