Actress Jessy Mendiola revealed that she would give her full support for her husband of three years, Luis Manzano, if he runs for any public office in the future.
When asked in an interview if her husband had any plans to join politics, Jessy firmly replied, "I cannot answer that yet." The actress mentioned, however, that Luis has been actively helping Finance Secretary and his stepdad, Ralph Recto, tend to political events in their hometown in Lipa, Batangas.
The actress also admitted that even when they were still dating, she was already against the idea of Luis pursuing a political career, given that it's a different field from show business.
"Siguro kung before ito, noong mag-boyfriend-girlfriend pa lang kami, actually sinabi ko talaga sa kaniya ‘Kapag ikaw tumakbo, hihiwalayan talaga kita.’ I know naman it's for our country, it's for the Filipinos," she confessed.
The actress further explained her concern, "But for me kasi, I kind of grew up in showbiz, and showbiz is a different world. And politics is another different world. So for me, hindi ko alam kung kaya kong i-handle ‘yun."

However, Jessy said she eventually had a change of heart after they got married.
"Now that I'm married to him, and I've been with Momskie (Vilma Santos) and Tito Ralph... mas lalo na noong pandemic, I've seen kung paano 'yung public service nila. And isa lang ang masasabi ko, grabe talaga 'yung public servants natin," she remarked.
The 31-year-old star also underscored that since politics is entwined with her husband's life, she would give her support should Luis run for office in the future.
"I cannot deny him that, if ever he's gonna run, sino ba naman ako para ipagkait sa kaniya 'yung ganoong parte ng buhay niya. So sinabi ko talaga sa kaniya, just in case he decides to run, ‘I will be here for you.’ Inassure ko siya," said Jessy.
In 2022, Luis said in an interview that he wasn't ready to pursue politics and affirmed that even though he comes from a "political family," no one pressured him to run for public office.

Jessy and Luis first had their civil wedding during the pandemic in 2021 and then held their second intimate church wedding in Palawan last February. The married couple has one daughter, Isabella Rose, also lovingly referred to by her family and fans as Peanut.
In the same interview, Jessy also revealed that they're planning to have a second baby, as she intends "to have more children if God will allow."
