As celebrity mom Marian Rivera fully embraces content creation, she sets a positive example for her children, Zia, 8, and Sixto, 5, when it comes to responsible social media use.
Like any mom, Marian has a strict rule: no smartphones for her children just yet.
"'Pag mga bata, depende sa mga rules sa bahay. Kasi kami sa bahay, may rules kami na 'yung mga bata, they're not allowed to use pa 'yung phones," she explained.
When asked when she would allow her children to have their own phones, she said, "'Pag mga 12 siguro sila, or mga 15 ganun. Pero naka-monitor pa rin, of course," she shared with PEP.ph during the launch event for the Vivo V40 Lite at SM North EDSA in Quezon City on October 26, 2024.
"Siyempre, bilang magulang, nasa atin ang responsibilidad na ituro kung ano ba yung mga tama at mali, maging sa mga ganitong bagay," she added. "Pero sa ngayon, mas gusto ko na-eenjoy nila 'yung pagkabata nila, na naglalaro, nag-eenjoy sa kung ano mang interes nila."
Since joining TikTok in mid-2023, the actress has become more active on social media, including Instagram Reels and Facebook. She shares her personal interests and gives followers a glimpse into her everyday life.
Marian also loves posting unboxing videos of her Pop Mart collection and TikTok dance challenges, many of which have gone viral. "Na-eenjoy ko talaga ngayon 'yung paggawa ng content sa TikTok, 'yung mga unboxing videos ko, pati na rin siyempre 'yung mga dance challenge," she shared.

Marian Rivera's Balanced Approach to Kids and Technology
Marian's approach to social media has always been grounded in discipline and setting healthy habits for her kids, as demonstrated by her past efforts to limit her daughter's gadget use.
Back in 2019, Marian shared how she weaned Zia off excessive screen time when her daughter had an iPad. "Sabi ko sira 'yung iPad niya," she shared during the Smart Parenting Masterclass: Toddler Expert Tips event. This trick worked multiple times for Marian, helping keep Zia engaged in other activities.
However, Marian also acknowledged that gadgets can be helpful, particularly in situations like family travel. "Minsan, kapag kinakailangan, like mahaba 'yung travel, ibibigay ko 'yung phone ko sa kanya and manonood siya. But not most of the time," she clarified.
