Actress and TV-host Carmina Villaroel became emotional as she delivered her birthday message for her twins Mavy and Cassy during an episode of her show, ‘Sarap, ‘Di Ba?’ last January 6, 2024. The twins, who celebrated their 23rd birthday, are her children with husband, Zoren Legaspi.
Carmina first clarified her stance regarding the twins’ love lives. She said, “Boto ako sa kahit sino na liligaw at liligawan ng anak ko.
“And in the future, kung sino man iyung makaka-relasyon nila, iyun lang iyung magiging boto ako.
“Hindi ako naghahanap ng perpekto, pero iyung may respeto sa lahat ng tao.”
“Never magiging red flag”
Mavy replied to this with, “Laging tandaan na ang pagmamahal sa isang magulang, whether nanay or tatay, never iyun magiging red flag kahit anong mangyari.”
Carmina and one of her co-hosts, Chuckie Dreyfus, then talked about the somewhat negative perception typically associated with the term, “mama’s boy.” Chuckie, who is an only child, said, “Na hindi naman talaga [that being a mama’s boy is a negative]. Ibig sabihin lang, close ka sa parents mo, close ka sa nanay mo, at mahalaga din naman iyun dahil dapat may koneksyon kayo ng mga magulang mo.”
Carmina then went on to explain where the negative view on being a “mama’s boy” might have come from, “May ibang mama’s boy na, kumbaga, na of age na, nasa marrying age na pero mas pinapakinggan pa rin iyung nanay over the wives.”
It can be remembered that netizens called Mavy a “mama’s boy” ever since his rumored split with actress Kyline Alcantara. Although the actor himself also previously admitted to being one.
“Hindi kami ang kontrabida ng buhay niyo”
In the latter part of the show, Carmina gave her birthday message for the twins, she said, “I’m trying to be thankful kasi baka lagyan ng [ibang meaning] ang mga sasabihin ko. I don’t want to overthink.
“Tatay and I are just happy that you’re back.
“You know that I’ve been quiet for the past…how many years?
“Hindi ko alam bakit sinasabi nilang nangingialam ako. But I don’t care because I am your mother.
“Kung nakialam ako, hindi mangyayari ito. So, it only means na hindi ako nakialam.
“So that’s why I’m so thankful because…that you’re back.”
She then reminded the twins, “And I want you to know, the two of you, that I would do everything and anything para sa inyong dalawa…Hindi ko lang kayang pumatay!
“But I would really defend you sa abot ng makakaya ko.
“Kasi bihira lang naman na–iyun lang. I love you, guys. I love you so much and tandaan niyo lang na nandito kami ni Tatay para sa inyo.
“We always want what is best for you, guys. Hindi kami mga kontrabida ng buhay niyo, kakampi niyo kami.”
It seems that the mom also addressed the recent issues their family faced after Mavy’s alleged breakup, she said, “Because nakikita ko iyung strengths ng bawat isa. Iyung isa, gustong mag-give up, pero what do you call this, we’re drawing strength from each other.
“Pag ako iyung tinitira, si Mavy ang nasasaktan.
“Pag si Mavy o si Cassy iyung tinitira, kaming dalawa ni Zoren iyung nasasaktan, pero tahimik lang po kami.”
Carmina further explained, “Kasi hindi naman po kami pala-away. Ayaw namin iyun. Gusto lang namin ng peace and love sa lahat.
“So, iyun lang, happy birthday, guys. I love you.”
