  • Yesterday, July 23, 2019, marked the 31st week of Saab Magalona-Bacarro’s second pregnancy. It’s a particularly trying time for the preggo mom as it was the same period when the events of her previous traumatic birth started.

“I’m now 31 weeks pregnant!” she proudly declared on Instagram. “I had to deal with so much anxiety nearing my 30 weeks of pregnancy because my traumatic birthing experience the first time around was when my baby girl (Pancho’s twin) lost her heartbeat at 30 weeks and six days,” Saab revealed.

“Going past the dreaded 30 weeks and six days is a milestone for our family,” she stressed, a little relieved.

Saab had to undergo an emergency C-section on February 8, 2018, but only broke the news after a month through her blog. One of the twins, daughter Luna Isabelle, didn’t make it, and Saab believes her baby girl sacrificed her life to save her twin brother.

“Both Pancho and I almost didn’t make it because of complications,” Saab added. Her preemie boy needed to stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for two months, and even Saab was in and out of the immediate care unit (IMCU) for over a week. Pancho also had to wear a medical device under his scalp to help relieve pressure in the brain for a few months.

“All of this happened so quickly. Too quickly. Life is very short,” Saab said, encouraging everyone to value time spent with loved ones. “In case you’re putting off something very important to you just because you’re scared. Do it now and be grateful that you still can,” she added.

Saab and husband Jim Bacarro learned that they were expecting again around the time of Pancho’s first birthday, in February, but had chosen to announce it only in April. Saab also shared that they are expecting a baby boy.

“Jim and I know in our hearts that our baby has returned to us,” the soon-to-be mom of two wrote in one of her Instagram posts. Jim described losing Luna as a difficult introduction to parenthood, though they are confident that they are prepared for anything after what they’ve gone through with Pancho.

Saab is having a smoother second pregnancy compared to the first, and she is preparing to be a mom to a toddler and baby. Her doctor advised her, though, to take it slow, rest as much as she can, and refrain from carrying Pancho in the meantime. Saab feels guilty for not having enough energy for Pancho, but she's also inspired by the many moms of toddlers who are pregnant or had just welcomed a new baby and have no help.
