Sarah Geronimo Steps Away From Spotlight To Focus On Marriage

After singer-actress Sarah Geronimo married actor-host Matteo Guidecelli in the height of the pandemic, she faded from the public eye for a while. Although circumstances played a significant role in this shift, it also suited the pop star's preference to live a quiet life. This break allowed Sarah to embrace her then-new role as a wife. 

Despite glimpses of Sarah's life on social media depicting her comfortable life with her husband, where they engage in leisure activities, travel, and share moments with their pets, the public saw less of Sarah the performer and more of her homemaker side.

Still, Sarah continued to accept select gigs because she loves performing more than anything. When asked about her rare or sudden appearances on shows at the time, Sarah told PEP.ph, "Part po nun, by choice. But ako din po nakukulangan sa labas ko. Kaya sabi ko, more raket pa diyan."

In the same period, Sarah discovered a newfound passion for baking. Her guest appearances in vlogs revealed a different side of her, often showing her in the kitchen. Her love for baking, which blossomed during the pandemic, led her to take a short course in baking at the culinary school of Heny Sison.

In May this year, Sarah announced through Matteo's YouTube channel that she completed the baking course, becoming a certified pastry chef. She also expressed her desire to open a food business that serves not only pastries but dishes as well.

Aside from baking, when asked about her typical day, Sarah says she stays busy at home with her pets.

"Ano lang kasi talaga, homebody lang talaga po ako. Hindi ako malabas talaga na tao. And mas gusto ko to spend time with my mga alaga, mga fur babies ko," shared Sarah to PEP.ph.

She added, "Alam niyo, mas gusto ko silang kasama talaga kesa sa tao. Iba 'yung peace na nabibigay nila sa akin. Maybe because they don't talk. They don't judge."

Sarah and Matteo have five dogs: Theodore, Liya, Nuka, Dakota, and 04. Last year, they welcomed to their family a cat named Fruity.

What success means for Sarah G.

For Sarah, who has basked in the spotlight since she was a kid and remains a huge star despite a hiatus, success is no longer about fame or awards.

She said, "Yung pag may peace ka lang po. May inner peace ka talaga sa lahat, ng bagay— relationships, relationship unang-una with yourself, which is, parang work in progress pa po ako.

"As a person, as a woman, and as an artist, parang ang dami ko pang hindi pa nagagawa," the 35-year-old singer concluded. That said, Sarah will continue following her heart's desires.

Sarah and Matteo were married in February 2020. Their wedding was filled with controversy when Sarah's mom, Divine, reportedly arrived unexpectedly and was enraged at the event.

Despite this, Matteo and Sarah have maintained a strong and loving relationship as a married couple for four years. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and pursuing their individual passions.
