Sarah Geronimo Only Learned How To Handle Her Finances After Getting Married

They say money management is a crucial skill worth developing especially for young couples who will manage a household in the future. For Sarah Geronimo, 32, learning how to handle money and finances only came after her marriage, despite her almost two decades in the industry.

Sarah reveals that she experienced “adulting” after getting married to husband Matteo Guidicelli in February 2020.

“To be honest, na-expedite ‘yung adulting ko,” she shares in a press conference organized by Manulife Insurance. “Ngayon ko lang na-experience how to handle my own finances, how to budget, how to invest.”

It’s no secret that Sarah’s mother, Divine Geronimo, was in charge of her finances from the time that Sarah started her career as a singer-actress. She remains grateful for everything that her mom has done for her.

“Ang mama ko po talaga kung kaya niya gawin lahat, gagawin niya para sa mga anak niya, para lang hindi maistorbo ang mga anak niya. Ganun siya ka-loving sa mga anak niya,” Sarah says in a report by Push.com.

Sarah is learning how to change her money mindset and priorities now that she’s married. She admits that she grew up very dependent on her Mommy Divine and Tatay Delfin Geronimo.

“I grew up na very dependent talaga sa aking parents, kasi talagang grabe naman talaga mag-alaga ang aking mama at daddy. I keep reminding myself now na hindi na ako single. I have to accept na hindi na ako single,” she says.

Now, she shares, “natututunan ko na lahat with the help of my husband.”

Sarah is also looking forward to the day when she will build a family with Matteo. “Iba na ang priority ko sa buhay. My priority now is my husband kasi ‘yun ang reality ng buhay ng pag-a-asawa, na ang priority na is your husband and the family that you will be building with your husband,” she says.

Sarah and Matteo’s wedding earlier this year was marked with controversy after a heated confrontation took place at the reception between the newlyweds and Sarah’s mother, Divine. According to reports, Divine and Delfin were not invited to the celebration. Since then, there has been no word of a reconciliation between the couple and Sarah’s parents.
