Slater Young Gives Up 'Reliable Buddy' To Move On To A Family-Friendly Vehicle

Many dads had to give up the cars that had served them well when they were still bachelors to give way to the needs of their growing families.

Slater Young is one such example. Recently, the engineer and former TV star took to Instagram to share a photo of him getting clingy to his car.

"Saying goodbye to my buddy today," he wrote in the caption, referring to his Toyota ride that he's assigned as a female, just like how ships are traditionally named. "Thank you for the memories."

Slater explained why he's so attached to his car: "She’s been my only car for the last 7 years. I got her when Kryz [née Uy] and I started dating and she has been nothing but reliable." The couple have since gotten married (in 2019) and became parents to two boys (Scottie, 2 years old, and Sevi, 8 months old).

The dad of two then pointed out, "Kailangan na lang talaga mag move on to a more family friendly vehicle."

He ended his post with this question: "Hmm… what to get?"

One of Slater's friends commented: "Land Rover Defender." He replied, "hahahaha d ko afford!!!"

Another friend of his suggested Land Cruiser, but he pointed out, "Mahirap pa yan bilhin kesa Hermes na bag!"

Other suggestions from the comments section: Toyoto Alphard, Ford Explorer, Fortuner, L300 FB, Geely Okavango, and Kia Grand Carnival 2023.

Slater was also advised to go for hybrid electric vehicle to "support the electrification of cars for lower carbon emissions" and to upgrade to an overlanding rig so he can go camping with his family.
