“Dapat hindi tayo nagbibilangan,” Yasmien Kurdi replied to reporters when asked about how they handle finances in their home. The actress has been married to airline pilot Rey Soldevilla since 2012.
The 30-year-old mom of one told Pep.ph that as is typical with most Filipino households, it is she, the wife, who handles their budget. And then the [rest] goes to our savings.”
Suprisingly, money has never been an issue between her and Rey, and it doesn’t really matter to them who brings in more. Although not everyone fights over money matters, it is one of the most common problems among couples.
We’re as one.”
In truth, Yasmien and Rey have never been keen on spending for material luxuries. Instead, they invest on family moments which they create by going on trips, the Kapuso actress told Pep.ph in 2017. It helps that both she and Rey love to travel, and agree on their priorities, especially when it involves creating experiences with their 6-year-old daughter Ayesha Zara.

And because Rey is an airline pilot, their family’s airfare is mostly covered by his travel benefits. The money that they save up is therefore used on other expenses, like their hotel, the tours, and their meals while on vacation.
She told Pep.ph in this recent interview, “Dapat hanggang pagtanda namin, nagtutulungan kami, hanggang retirement namin, para mas mapaginhawa ang buhay namin.”
