  • Shopping for baby items is arguably one of the most exciting parts of being an expecting mom. Just imagining those tiny socks, beanies, and onesies will definitely result in cuteness overload. The soon-to-be mom of three Dimples Romana, could relate!

"It really excites me kasi it's been 7 years. Tsaka grabe ah! Mas cute 'yung mga items ngayon na pang-baby. Dati kasi, ganitong color lang, ngayon very diversed na," she said during the press conference for beauty vitamin brand Fortima.

It was also on the same virtual event, held last March 18, that she first revealed her pregnancy.

    Dimples' must-have baby items

Smart Parenting got to ask the actress and mompreneur what items are on the top of her list when shopping for her third baby.

She told this writer that she had already ticked a few items off her baby shopping list when her family took a trip to the U.S. last February 2022 to take advantage of the deals there.

"Kasi mura sa Amerika 'di ba. Na-excite kasi ako eh," she shared.

She went on to tell us the different baby products she bought abroad. First were baby pillows.

"Gusto ko 'yung parang mga pa-pillow. Alam mo 'yung sabi nila para hindi raw flat 'yung ulo ng bata. Naniniwala kasi ako sa mga ganu'n."

"Tapos bumili ako ng mga booties." Dimples also said she also got a couple of swaddle blankets. When it comes to baby clothes, she did not just look for cute designs. She looked for outfits that they could wear for adorable twinning moments.

"Dahil sa Texas kami nagpunta, mayroon isang cowboy store don na mayroong mga T-shirt, polo, to be sure kung girl or boy, bumili na ako ng twinning para kay Callie, may twinning din para kay Alonzo," the 37-year-old mom shared.

    Using of hand-me-down baby items

While she bought a few new items for Baby 'E' (Dimples revealed that her third baby's name will start with this letter), she also said that she'll be bringing out old but still good to use items that were previously owned by her two kids, Callie and Alonzo.

Dimples said that when they were freeing up space in their home to prepare for Baby E's arrival, they found old baby items that they could still use.

"Alam mo, nakita ko 'yung kainan ng bata nandodoon pa. 'Yung stroller ni Alonzo nandodoon pa. Hindi ko na 'yung bibilhin kasi sayang naman...nandoon pa 'yung car seat niya," she said.

Money-saving tips when buying baby items

According to a recent study by iPrice, an e-commerce aggregator, Pinoy parents must be prepared to shell out around Php60,000 just for basic baby items. That's already a huge some for many Filipinos.

Like Dimples, it would be practical to take advantage of hand-me-down items or pre-loved baby stuff. That is one tipid tips mommies shared in our previous Smart Parenting article. (Read here)
