Neri Miranda can't forget the time her and her husband Chito Miranda's first son Miggy turned emotional toward her. She was then pregnant with their second son Cash (born on October 8, 2021).
The actress-turned-entrepreneur goes on telling the story during the online event for the baby care brand, Babyflo: "Si Miggy, hindi naman s’ya nagseselos, pero no’ng buntis ako, kasi mahilig s’yang dumagan sa akin. So, sabi ko, ‘Excuse, Miggy, naso-suffocate ako.’ Tumingin s’ya sa ’kin, ‘You don’t love me anymore.’"
Neri shares her reaction at that moment: "Ha? Nagulat ako. You don’t love me anymore. Nagulat ako. Saan nanggaling ’yun? ‘Because you have a new baby now.’ Nagulat ako. ’Tapos naiiyak s’ya."
She adds, "Siyempre emotional din ako kasi buntis ako. So, in-explain ko na, ‘Kasi mabigat ka, nai-move lang kita.’"
Though that incident didn't happen again, Neri tells SmartParenting.com.ph at the online event that Miggy was in such a mood for about three weeks.
"Hindi naman s'ya selos," Neri says, though pointing out that Miggy had been the baby in the family for five years until Cash came along. Nevertheless, she and her husband turned their attention to Miggy. "Binibigyan namin ng oras. Every day, nire-remind namin s’ya gaano namin s’ya kamahal. Nawala din!
"’Tapos ngayon, s’ya pa ’yung every morning, iki-kiss n’ya si Cash. Kung puwede nga lang n’yang buhatin. Tina-try n’ya talagang buhatin. Inaalalayan namin. Sobrang love na love n’ya."
Neri shares some pointers that may help not only in preparing the older kids for the arrival of the new baby but also in keeping the whole brood together. Miggy and Cash have older sister Sophia, also called Pia, who's on the way to becoming an official member of the Miranda family (read here).
Says Neri, "Wag nating sabihin na, ‘Huwag ka ngang mag-inarte d’yan!’ Kasi siyempre naramdaman n’ya ’yun, eh. May new member ng family."
Neri explains, "Kailangan pakinggan natin ang side ng anak natin. Kasi siyempre ngayong pandemya, di sila nakakalabas sa bahay. Di sila nakakalaro with their friends and their classmates."
Try to understand and kausapin natin ang anak natin."
Neri points out, "Bigyan natin ng opportunity ang anak natin to explain their side. Baka hindi natin alam nagawa o nasabi pala natin [kaya ginagaya nila]."
