Becoming a mom doesn't mean our lives and dreams as gritty, adventurous women have ended. To Chesca Kramer, becoming a committed housewife and a hands-on mother is what she has been praying for.
In an episode of Camille Prats' vlog #CamCookWithMe, the 42-year-old mom of three shared how she first got into showbiz. From her Ang TV days, she said she wanted to have a little bit of everything - academics, swimming, and modeling that's why she didn't pursue acting as much as her brother Patrick Garcia. She dabbled into hosting and she enjoyed it.
Now, Chesca enjoys being a homeschooling mom to her kids Kendra, Scarlett, and Gavin, and a committed wife to professional basketball player Doug Kramer for 14 years.

How Chesca enjoys being a mom
At first, Chesca didn't think she would be able to teach her kids. She told Camille, "I realized that every day I teach my children, every day we teach our children with their habits, whether it be hygiene, or even teaching them values." She added, "Children learn with the things that they see from their parents, caught not taught."
"I wouldn't trade my life when I was single for the life I have right now."
Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Karen Davila, Chesca explained how she's confident in raising her teen daughter Kendra. "She is a very obedient little girl. She has a fear - hindi yung fear na takot - it's out of respect and love. We made it very clear to her ever since she was a little girl the boundaries and the limitations and we also explained to her what the world is like. With Kendra, she is very secure [in] her Papa's love."
Being at home most of the time, Chesca revealed the one thing she consistently does to make sure her kids have an open communication line with her.
"There's never a day that I don't ever come to my children and ask them "How are you? How are you doing?" I really take time, and it's not "How are you" na nakatalikod ako, uupo tayo."
She also told Camille, "I know the faces of my kids when they're going through something because I always look at them. Even the helpers in the house, I know when they are problematic, I ask them, "Oh kamusta? How's everything?"
"They've gotten so used to that the moment they get home, they look for me and they make me kwento kasi sanay na sanay sila na they're always talking to me," she said.

Entrusting her family to the Lord
While there are struggles for sure, Chesca puts it firmly that is grateful to live the roles she is entrusted with as a wife and mom. "I wouldn't trade my life when I was single for the life I have right now. Although it's such a big responsibility, I really take it to heart and I'm so blessed I'm given an opportunity to have a good and functioning healthy family."
"She had her shows before, she's done hosting, pero her satisfaction when she sees how the kids are growing up, iba yung joy - permanent joy."
She said ever since she has put her faith firmly in the Lord, everything including parenting becomes easier, and that's the secret to why people are looking up to them as a model family.
"I realized ang dami kong pagkakamaling ginagawa dahil hindi ko alam yung Bible ko. I always pray, "Lord, help me to raise my children properly according to your design and purpose." I don't want them to go through what I went through. I want them to be able to know the fear of the lord, to have that conviction."
Chesca maintained that although people think that she gave up her career and ambitions for her children, she is perfectly fine with where she is right now.
"My ambition is to be a committed housewife. Kina-career ko yun!" she said.
Doug added, "She had her shows before, she's done hosting, pero her satisfaction when she sees how the kids are growing up, iba yung joy - permanent joy."
Chesca explained, "But that's me, everybody has their own journey, everybody has their own season in life. This is my season, and this is the season and the journey I prayed for."
