How Baby No. 2 Changed Neri Miranda's Parenting Style: 'Hindi Na Ako Madaling Mataranta'

No two pregnancies are the same. It follows that caring for your second baby is a whole new different experience. In fact, many moms of more than one will agree that your second child is a game-changer, especially when it comes to parenting. This change does not necessarily have to be a bad thing, and wais na misis, Neri Naig-Miranda could attest to that.

Neri and her husband Chito Miranda, welcomed their second child, Baby Cash, last October 2021. Four months since becoming a new mom again, the actress turned entrepreneur admits that, like most second-time moms, there are a lot of things she's doing differently now.

3 ways how Neri's parenting changed with baby number two

They say that your first baby has the benefit of your full, undivided attention, while the babies that follow get to enjoy the benefit of your experience. This is true for Neri, whose experience from taking care of Miggy, 5, got her out of the newbie status to a quite seasoned mom.

Being more on top of the situation

"Mas sanay na ako now. Hindi na ako madaling mataranta compared [noon] kay Miggy." With more experience, Neri has learned to be more present at the moment than be overwhelmed by the tasks at hand.

Less second-guessing

When asked what advice she would give to other moms, Neri spoke from experience and offered these three tips:

1. Try to relax. Alam ko mahirap gawin bilang ang mga nanay ay aligaga. Always remember that everything will be ok.
2. Trust your instincts. Alam natin kung may nararamdaman ang mga bata o may mali sa kanila.
3. Get some sleep. Sabayan ang mga bagets pag tulog. We need to recharge.

Learning to enjoy her motherhood journey more

Since she's a lot less rattled and anxious now, Neri admits she enjoys taking care of her newborn now. "Mas na eenjoy ko na ngayon yung experience having a newborn kase mas gamay ko na at I know what to expect."

Of course, she does not forget to credit Chito for helping with the kids. She shared, "Very hands on si Chito as a dad. Pero since may baby kami, siya ang naka focus kina Miggy and Pia. Para balanced yung oras with our kids."
