Solenn Heussaff and Nico Bolzico's panganay Thylane turns 3 in less than two months, on January 1, 2023, and the soon-to-be mom of two can't help marvel at the girl's development.
"She’s very active," says Solenn when asked about Thylane in an event. "She has a mind of her own. She likes to contradict. But she also goes to school, so I have my me time.
"At the same time she’s going through regression because since I’m having baby number two, and she knows about it. She’s a bit jealous." (Read here on how the little shows her jealousy.)
The artist/actress/entrepreneur continues on how their preschooler is doing, "Whatever we eat, she eats. I don’t prepare a meal for her and meal for us. But there are days when all she wants is yogurt or ice cream."
Solenn makes it a point to have play time with her daughter, and she does it "no phones usually," so she can give her full attention to what their activity together. She points out, "You prioritize play time. Spend time with your child. Minimize screen time."
She then admits failing to withhold gadget use for her daughter until the girl reaches 7 years old. She recalls the first time they traveled as a family, and they were eating in a restaurant. (Read here about their Japan trip.)
"When we eat out," she explains, "it’s very hard communicating with whoever I’m eating with, and my child is with me, and I keep her happy. So I gave her the iPad."
Solenn goes on sharing the rules she's set for Thylane's screen time:
1. Gadget use is either in Spanish or French. "She can’t have English because she hears English all the time."
2. Watching TV and using iPad lasts for only 10 minutes a day.
3. During screen time, continue interacting. Solenn says she asks Thylane questions like, "Oh, what’s happening?" So, she explains, "You don’t just give the iPad or get her in front of the TV.
