Solenn Heussaff Says Her Second Pregnancy Is 'Mas Chill' But She Has To 'Still Injecting'

Solenn Heussaff says her second pregnancy is "mas chill right now" compared to her first. She's not required to get a bed rest and have a strict diet. She can also work out and travel. (Read here on her solo trip to Paris and here on her family travel to Japan.)

But there's one thing from Solenn's first pregnancy that she has to do again while heavy with her and her husband Nico Bolzico's second child and their panganay Thylane's little sister.

"I’m still injecting since the beginning [of my second pregnancy]," she says in an interview with Smart Parenting at a recent event organized by Cetaphil skincare brand.

The actress/artist/entrepreneur explains that she's taking blood thinner shot not for Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome (APAS) but for another condition: "’Yung dugo ko lang medyo coagulated when I’m pregnant lang. ‘Yung protein S, ’yun ang sinasabi nila. Hindi ako doctor."

Protein S is defined by Merriam-Webster as "a vitamin K-dependent, anticoagulant glycoprotein that acts chiefly in enhancing the ability of protein C to inactivate factor V and factor VIII."

A deficiency of protein S is associated with an increased risk of venous thrombosis, or the formation of a blood clot within a blood vessel.

Solenn gives more details on her condition that only happens when she's pregnant: "Ang protein S ko, mababa. Kaya kailangan mas liquid ’yung blood, so that the oxygen and the nutrients can flow to the baby.

"'Yun ’yung sa first pregnancy, nag-start lang ako ng five months, or six months, kaya they’re saying medyo maliit. No’ng nag-start ako [injecting], mas nagfo-flow na ang dugo everywhere."

As for her birth plan, the soon-to-be mom of two says she's hoping not to have another Cesarean section but a vaginal birth after Cesarean delivery (VBAC).

"I’ll try natural, kung kaya sana," she points out. "We’ll see. Sabi nila depende sa pagtahi…We’ll see kung hindi magbi-break ang tissue. Hoping na puwede. ‘Yan ang gusto kong gawin. Kung hindi, safety first."

Meantime, Solenn is preparing not only herself but also her panganay Thylane (read here) and the rest of their household for the arrival of the new baby. She says she kept Thylane's baby clothes because she really wants to have another child.

"Gusto ko lang ng dalawang anak," she beams, still talking about her first child's baby stuff. "Tinabi ko, in case magiging girl. No’ng nalaman ko na girl, at least di na ako bibili ng bago. Baka bote na lang." (Read here for more money-saving tips.)

She also intends to be hands-on in caring for the new baby, just like what she did with her first. But this time, she plans on getting someone to help her with the baby and the preschooler in the house.

She clarifies, though, "May help naman ako sa bahay. I have a cook and someone cleans. Si Thylane, wala s’yang yaya. Pag nasa bahay ako, I’m fulltime with her. So wala akong masyadong time mag-paint and everything."
