Mother's Day 2023 came early for Bettinna Carlos, who took to Instagram to share the story behind it a few days before the actual date (May 14). Her post had a photo of her and her daughter Gummy and shots of the 12-year-old's gifts.

"Early moms day treat from my panganay, who has been earning and saving up quite a lot recently!" captioned the actress-turned-entrepreneur based in La Union. She then explained how her daughter did it: "Working in the kitchen and selling polymer clay earrings rings keychains etc."

Bettinna also got a card from Gummy, who apparently helped her baby sister Amina participate, too.

Bettinna pointed out, "Di lang pala sya nagtatrabaho para sa pansariling skincare!! For me din pala kasi she saw paubos na my only skincare (moisturizer). Thank you anak! You’re so sweet! Thank you for spending for mummy."

She added, hinting at their closeness, "And you’re welcome too kasi Im sure hihingi ka ng serum and eye cream! Hehe!"

In Bettinna's earlier post, she shared how she's getting help from Gummy in running their own Manna Kitchen. It is the restaurant inside Aginana Villas, the La Union resort that she and her husband Mikki Eduardo own.

"This was us during last Saturday’s dinner service," Bettinna said of her photo with Gummy working at Manna Kitchen. "We were understaffed and I was assigned at the plating and dispatch station and G in the pasta station." She then explained that G, short for Gummy, usually takes over the cashier and front of house (FOH), while she works as a waitress.

"We closed the dispatch window for 5mins and just inhaled our dinner," Bettinna said, recalling her converstation with her daughter. "She went: 'This is the fastest I ever had to eat Mummy!' in between breaths and chews. To which I responded: 'Welcome to the kitchen, anak.'"

Bettinna then had this realization about Gummy: "Seeing her really be interested in food prep (cooking and baking even mis en place) and desiring to help out and work in a commercial kitchen (and get paid for it ofcourse! nagpapasweldo ito sa tatay niya-writing down her hours down to the minute!) make me smile and now tears as I type haha!"

Bettinna then pointed out, "So many opportunities for character growth in working with others and in the kitchen. Not just for her but even for me-for everyone actually! So thankful to our line cooks for teaching her and guiding her (di kami pareho ng station so di naman ako ang nakatutok sa kanya)."

She mentioned one of those who helped her daughter, tagging Marife Irene Jongaya, "for being so encouraging to her." She added, "Minsan kailangan lang talaga natin ng mga taong naniniwala na kaya natin para makayanan natin."

Bettinna ended her post with gratitude: "Thankful for this season in our family life, all the people the Lord has added unto us and how He has been shaping us through every day, everyone and everything."

Bettinna doesn't only have a sweet and hardworking daughter in Gummy but also a caring and reliable ate to their bunso Amina, just 5 months old.
