When you have a baby in the family, most everything you do will revolve around her needs, such as feeding, and diaper changes every so often. And that holds true whether you’ve gone back to work, are traveling with the family, or simply planning an afternoon at the mall.
Thankfully, because of the continuous campaign to promote breastfeeding, many establishments these days provide lactation rooms so you can feed your baby more comfortably. It also makes it more convenient to go places with your child. With a 10-month-old daughter herself, mom of two LJ Reyes has voiced out the need for better breastfeeding stations and more family changing rooms. Now, she shares on her Instagram Stories her favorite mall breastfeeding station.
“One of my favorite breastfeeding stations is the one at Power Plant Mall! They have small cubicles so the room can accommodate up to 4 pairs! It has books too if you’re with your older kids and a changing station and sink to wash too!
“Each cubicle has its own comfy chair, cot, tissue box, trash can and mirror for selfies! Lol!”
However, she pointed out that dads aren’t allowed inside the breastfeeding station in Power Plant Mall, so they can’t assist moms or even change baby’s diapers themselves.
The good news, LJ shared, is that the mall now has a family room “where everybody can go in! Yeyyy to this!!! Now even @paolo_contis can change Summer! Hurray for the dads!!! This is located at the 2nd level of the new wing! After the breastfeeding station, turn right!” Summer Ayana is her daughter with her partner, fellow actor Paolo Contis.
LJ gave her followers a quick look of what the Family Room looks like inside. “So spacious! Strollers can come in and wheelchairs for PWD would fit right in too!!! New changing station and very clean!!! My mommy heart is so happyyyy!!!”
LJ also encouraged fellow moms to tag her and submit the pin to the MApp app when they find similar useful spaces for moms. “Let’s help each other create a good standard for our community!” she wrote.
MApp is a GPS-based mobile application that LJ launched in 2016. Short for “Mommy App,” it is intended to help parents locate family-friendly establishments in the metro, and features helpful lists, too.
