TW: death, loss

“Losing you isn’t just about the hopes and dreams that slipped away—it’s the heartbreak of losing you, our precious baby girl,” writes fashion and travel vlogger, Laureen Uy, on Instagram next to a video of the sun setting and waves swelling on the shore.

She captioned the video with, “A LETTER TO OUR BABY GIRL MILES,”

The content creator expressed her insurmountable grief by saying, “There are no words to describe the depth of this pain.”

Laureen begins her letter with, “From the moment we found out we were pregnant with you, Dad and I were overcome with joy. It was the best news of our lives—a love so immense and instant, it’s hard to put into words. You filled our hearts in a way we’d never known before.”

She then expresses the picture she lovingly created in her head, dreaming of the days she would eventually share with her precious little one. She writes, “Everything Dad and I did, we shared with you, imagining all the memories we’d make as a family. We pictured holding you in our arms, kissing your tiny hands, singing you to sleep, and exploring the world together—a family of three. We couldn’t wait for that future.”

Until one day, the baby’s heart stopped beating.

“But then, God had other plans. The day we learned your heart had stopped beating was the day ours shattered. It was the worst day of my life. I didn’t want to let you go—my body didn’t want to let you go. Even now, it feels like a nightmare I can’t wake up from. But this is our reality, and it’s a pain I never thought I’d have to bear,” Laureen painfully writes.

She adds, “We will miss you every single day. We’ll miss the quiet talks we had with you during tummy time, the dreams we built around you, and all the love we poured into the little life growing inside me.” She concludes her letter by saying that she’ll miss her forever and that she’s grateful that she and Miggy have been her parents even for a short period of time.

She seals the letter with words of love, “We love you endlessly, Miles. Forever and ever.”

Last October 26, 2024, Laureen shared a video on Instagram revealing that she’s pregnant with her first child with husband, Miggy Cruz. She captioned it with “Can’t wait to be a family of 3 (red heart emoji).” Aside from the Instagram reel, they also posted a heart-warming video on Youtube announcing their pregnancy.

She was 14 weeks pregnant then, according to the video.

We are so sorry for your loss, Laureen. We hope for your quick recovery and healing in this very difficult time.

Dads can feel loss and grief, too. Here's a story of a dad-to-be who opens up about miscarriage.
