She said, "During the lowest part of my life, I met Michael. I sailed over oceans, over seas, climbing mountains just trying to find this certain peace. I was broken. But my faith brought me to where he was.

"When I gave up and surrendered all to God, He gave me the desires of my heart in the most unexpected circumstances. I lost battles, but I won hope. In my heartache, I found home."

Melissa raised Kiera as a single mom before she met her husband. She revealed that while she struggled as a solo parent, she doesn't regret not getting married to her ex-boyfriend Charles Togesaki.

"For me, I took that choice of leaving and letting it go because I thought it was best for me and my daughter," she said in an interview with Kimi Lu via Instagram Live.

"Sabi ko, 'Lord, bigyan mo ako ng sign' because I'm not the kind of person who will quit agad-agad.

"I would always think na hindi naman ako pababayaan ni Lord in this situation. He put me in this situation for a reason.

"And He will do whatever He can to help me in it and to get me out of a bad situation if that's bad. Everything happens for a reason."
