Actress Kris Bernal has given birth to her first child with her husband Perry Choi!
Their #LittleSunshine was born on August 15, 2023. Her name is Hailee Lucca.
On August 30, Kris shared an Instagram reel and wrote, "Let me tell you a story, SHE’S FINALLY HERE. 15 days with our #LittleSunshine, @haileelucca! And, it has been the most magical days of our lives. After the longest pregnancy and hardest labor, I would do it over so many times to meet my #LittleSunshine. The bond between a mother and child is one of the strongest in existence. I’m so inlove!! It is a kind of love that is never understood until it happens to you. My heart is so full and becoming a mother is the most rewarding and beautiful thing in my life."
She added, "Thank you, Lord, for giving us a chance to be parents! We have been taking some time to ourselves to get settled. For now, we’re really slowing down and soaking up every minute, cherishing it all. Thank you for the kind messages, thoughts, and prayers."
How Kris Bernal and Perry Choi chose their baby's name
The proud parents already created an Instagram account for their baby. In the first post, they explained the reason behind their firstborn's name. Turns out, Hailee Lucca, is a play on the word "Hallelujah" and Kris' favorite NBA player when she was pregnant, Luka Doncic.
"Hello world, I’m Hailee Lucca. I heard mama said that my name, Hailee Lucca, was inspired by the word "Hallelujah" that means "Praise the Lord". Mom would play this song on repeat to soothe me to sleep inside her womb. I am a manifestation of God's divine love, and they are forever thankful for my precious life."
"Additionally, mama had an excessive fondness to NBA player, Luka Doncic, throughout her entire pregnancy. And in my little bubble, I can hear her cheering "Halle-Luka" every time!"
Kris Bernal on normalizing pregnancy struggles
The actress has been sharing on social media how pregnancy changed her. Last August 10, Kris shared her struggles being "super pregnant" and that every movement was exhausting.
In another post, she revealed, "Honestly, at first I was afraid of gaining weight and not being fit." However, she said that as her baby grew inside her, she learned to enjoy the process and loved her baby even more. "It's all because of her," she said.
She continued, "This is a season of growth. This is normal. This is a part of the process. This is the results of a healthy baby girl growing inside of me. It's all so worth it!"
Kris and Perry revealed their pregnancy in March, and their baby's gender in April. The couple, who started as business partners, tied the knot in September 2021.
