Kris Bernal Surprised To Find Out Baby's Gender, 'Hindi Pala Totoo Yung Mga Haka-Haka!'

Actress Kris Bernal and her husband Chef Perry Choi are having a baby girl!

The couple found out about their first child's gender in a fun party streamed on YouTube live on April 16.

After the announcement, Kris said she was surprised because she thought she was having a baby boy all along. She is already around her 23rd week of pregnancy.

"Akala ko boy talaga kasi lahat ng symptoms ko boy. Tapos yung tiyan ko patusok akala ko boy!"

Perry, on the other hand, confidently guessed that they were going to have a daughter.

On his Instagram, he joked that he hopes their daughter won't look like this:

Kris explained, her mind was already made up that they were having a son because she felt it. She says, "Hindi pala totoo yung mga haka-haka, na pag ganito lalaki. Kasi lahat ng symptoms ko talaga lalaki eh."

"Akala ko boy talaga kasi lahat ng symptoms ko boy. Tapos yung tiyan ko patusok akala ko boy!"

Ecstatic, she said, "Oh my gosh, girl! May babae na din sa family. Matutupad yung pangarap kong mag-ayos-ayos, bihisan, artehan."

The actress said they have already thought about their baby's name should it be a girl but didn't reveal it yet.

Her mom, who was also Team Girl said, Kris' daughter would be the first "apo na girl" in their family.

"I have twin daughters tapos si Kris. Ibang-iba si Kris, napaka-arte," Analyn Bernal said.

She also told the soon-to-be parents, "Mapupuyat kayo. Di na diretso ang tulog. It's a sacrifice to have children."

Myths about pregnancy and your baby's gender

In a previous Smart Parenting article, we debunked the myths concerning pregnancy symptoms that would lead to knowing what a baby's gender is. After all, the best and most effective way to find out is through an ultrasound. 

Myth #1: When the tummy’s shape is pointed, the baby inside the womb is a boy. If it’s round, it’s a girl.

The shape of a pregnant woman's belly doesn't necessarily indicate the baby's gender. It only tells us the size and the position of the baby, but not the gender.

Myth #2: If a pregnant woman experiences nausea, she's having a girl. 

Again, having morning sickness during pregnancy cannot immediately dictate the baby's gender. Although Kris experienced a lot of throwing up during the first few months of her pregnancy, experts say this pregnancy symptom is non-conclusive.

Myth #3: If the pregnant woman is blooming, she's having a girl.

Or if she looks uglier, she's having a boy. Both of these claims are not yet proven, but these statements tend to go around. For Kris, a lot of her followers said they guessed her baby's gender right because she's really a "magandang buntis."
