Marian Rivera Says Second Pregnancy Was Harder: ‘Nawalan Ng Bisa’ Ang Anesthesia

Moms who have given birth to both boys and girls would agree that the pregnancy journey is not the same. Some would say that carrying boys in the womb is easier, while others would claim the complete opposite.

For celebrity mom Marian Rivera, it was her second pregnancy with Sixto Dantes, or “Ziggy” for short, that was tougher.

“[Kay Zia] hindi ako masyadong nahirapan. Lumalaki lang ‘yung tiyan ko pero wala akong nararamdaman. Kay Sixto, maliit pa lang ang sakit sakit na kasi sobrang likot talaga niya. Hindi ako nakakatulog sa kanya,” the actress shared in an exclusive interview with Summit Media editors called Sandwich Sessions.

She adds that her baby bump was noticeably bigger with Ziggy and that she experienced more pain during labor. “Mas matagal akong nag-labor kay Zia pero mas less pain, hindi ako masyadong nahirapan,” Marian says.

The mom of two also revealed that she opted for anesthesia for both of her births, but she only asks for a minimal amount. Husband Dingdong Dantes even calls her a “sadista” for her choice.

“Kapag nagpapa-anesthesia ako, sobrang kaunti lang. Kasi gusto ko — sabi nga ng asawa ko, ‘Ang sadista mo talaga’ — gusto ko nararamdaman ko ‘yung hilab at ire para mas madali ko siyang mailabas,” she explains.

Unfortunately, while she was giving birth to Ziggy, the anesthesia wore off. “Kay Sixto hindi ganun katagal ang pag-le-labor ko, pero ‘yung anesthesia na ininject sa’kin, nawalan ng bisa!” the mom recalls.

“Sobrang hirap na hirap talaga ako. Kulang na lang, dugo ‘yung iniiyak ko sa hirap,” she adds.

Dingdong revealed in his Instagram account back in 2019 that Marian went through 10 hours of labor with their son. He also weighed a little over seven pounds and was slightly heavier and taller than his Ate Zia.

Marian Rivera will soon make her debut in a virtual play with Tanghalang Ateneo. She will take on the role of vice-president Kreon in Password: 03d1pu5_R3x which is set to premiere on February 22, 2021.
