Rich Asuncion, Husband Welcome Their 2nd Child 'Born Very Strong And Healthy'

Rich Asuncion has given birth to her and her Fil-Aussie husband Benj Mudie's second child. The latest addition to their brood, next to 3-year-old Bela, is another girl they've named Alessandra.

The StarStruck alum, who's now based in Australia with her family (read here how they achieve their dream home), took to Instagram to share several photos of Alessandra on April 28, 2022, indicating the baby's birth date.

Rich wrote in the caption: "Introducing Alessandra, born very strong and healthy. Bela finally has a fulltime playmate and our #MudSquad is complete."

A day earlier, the former GMA-7 actress shared a photo of her and her husband while waiting to be wheeled into the delivery room.

"Ready for ROUND [2-finger emoji]," she said. "We were hoping for a normal delivery but after almost 41 weeks of waiting, its time to meet our baby girl via CS again. Mama and Papa will see you soon Alessandra. #MudSquad #familycomplete."

Is VBAC possible?

Vaginal birth after Cesarean (VBAC) is not typically the first option, according to experts, as there is a possibility that the C-section scar from the past childbirth may tear. Studies show that uterine rupture, which is a life-threatening event for both mother and child, may occur with VBAC.

When this happens, the contents of the uterus may spill into the peritoneal cavity, which is the area between the two membranes separating organs from the abdominal cavity and the abdominal wall. There is also is the risk of the infant dying due to complications of a VBAC labor.

The good news is that with recent breakthroughs in science, a successful VBAC is now more possible than ever to achieve. But you have to talk to your doctor about your options. For you to be considered to be a candidate for VBAC, you need to meet these requirements:

1. Your previous CS had a low transverse uterine incision
2. The reason for the previous CS delivery is not present
3. You have had enough time to heal since the last pregnancy
4. You've only gone through one CS delivery
5. You have no pre-existing medical condition such as heart disease, diabetes, or hypertension
