Megan Young: ‘I Didn’t Bounce Back’ After Giving Birth
Leon just turned one, and Megan Young is marking the occasion by sharing her honest postpartum fitness journey. Her message? You don't have to "bounce back" to come back stronger.

Just in time for her son’s first birthday, Megan Young shared her postpartum fitness journey on Instagram.
The former beauty queen candidly admitted, “I didn’t bounce back.”
In her video, she showed her one-month postpartum body, a sight many mothers know all too well. That queasy feeling and the lingering “still looks pregnant” belly are familiar parts of the postpartum experience. Megan also revealed that she gained more than 50 pounds during her pregnancy.
Megan and Mikael Daez were together for nine years before tying the knot in 2020. In a 2023 interview, Megan spoke about her fears surrounding pregnancy and motherhood.
“I think the unknown is scary, di ba? Di pa naman nangyayari sa akin, so there's always that fear. Pero whatever happens, it happens in my life."
In 2025, the couple lovingly welcomed their son, Leon.
A year later, Megan proudly reflected on her journey. It wasn’t simply about getting a fit body or “bouncing back.” It was about rebuilding her strength, regaining confidence, and showing up for herself and her family.
She shared:
“Ever since I got cleared by my OB to work out after giving birth, I’ve been slowly getting into my groove.”

No postpartum journey is easy. New mothers are learning how to care for a baby, adjusting to changes in their relationships, and coming to terms with a body that no longer feels the same. To call it overwhelming would be an understatement.
Megan shared how she gradually found her rhythm again, choosing small, consistent steps instead of expecting instant results.
She wrote:
“Months 1 to 4, I was doing light walking, eventually lifting weights again. But I still wasn’t at the point that I wanted to be. I was still 25 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight. In total, I gained 50 lbs during my pregnancy,” she wrote.
Megan understood that recovery couldn’t be rushed. Instead of pressuring herself to immediately “bounce back,” she focused on what mattered most during the early months of postpartum life: simply moving.
Little by little, she chose progress over perfection. It didn’t have to be a marathon. Even light walks were enough. She embraced the season she was in and allowed herself to take small but meaningful steps forward.
However, an unexpected challenge arose during her fifth month postpartum. Megan was diagnosed with dengue, forcing her to scale back her activities and focus on rest and recovery.
Her experience serves as an important reminder that setbacks are part of the journey. There will be seasons when recovery requires slowing down, listening to your body, and giving yourself grace.
By months six to nine, Megan was feeling stronger again. She began lifting heavier weights and sought professional help for her diastasis recti through Coach Mama Mindy.
She shared:
“Check her out, please, if you need guidance with this. Her program was so helpful for me to regain strength and confidence.”
Coach Mama Mindy is a certified mommy tummy specialist, who focuses on diastasis recti rehabilitation, core restoration, and C-section recovery.
One valuable lesson from Megan’s journey is the importance of asking for help. There is only so much anyone can do alone, and seeking support does not make someone a bad mother. In many cases, it helps make the journey more sustainable.
By her tenth month postpartum, Megan realized she could benefit from additional guidance to reach her fitness goals. After seeing Boom Sason’s workout sessions with Myra Golloso, she decided to reach out.
Since then, Megan and Mikael have been training under Coach Myra’s Golloso’s guidance.
Reflecting on her progress, Megan said:
“I have never felt better. We’ve been working hard for the past two months. Work out kahit naka-bakasyon, tracking my food intake every single day. It has been so worth it. I love getting stronger for myself so that I can be stronger for my family.”
Megan’s postpartum fitness journey was far from easy. But through small, intentional choices, a willingness to ask for help, and an acceptance of the season she was in, she showed that meaningful progress is possible.
Her Instagram Reel received encouraging messages from celebrity friends, including Iya Villania-Arellano, Bea Fabregas, Aubrey Miles, Isabelle Daza, Valeen Montenegro-Manuel, and Anne Curtis.
Way to go, Megan!
