Solenn Heussaff-Bolzico treated her viewers to a Casa SosBolz 2.0 house tour on her vlog, providing an intimate look at her daughters’ adorable and carefully curated rooms. Maëlys and Tili’s rooms, filled with personal touches and thoughtful design choices, are perfect examples of kids’ rooms that blend style and functionality. Here are a few things we love about Casa SosBolz 2.0’s kids’ rooms and some tips on building a kids’ room inspired by Solenn’s creativity and practicality.
Maëlys Room
Solenn’s love for vibrant prints and subtle colors takes center stage in Maëlys’ room. The focal point of the room is a beautiful mural-eque print wallpaper by Pattern Pad, adding a splash of color while maintaining a cozy atmosphere. Solenn also admitted that the furniture is a mix of new and old, including the Sebi Rocker and Ottoman from Philux that she got from a friend who also used the same chair to breastfeed her two kids. Using well-loved and functional pieces adds a touch of nostalgia and comfort to the space.
Tip: If you’re not a fan of bright colors, you can opt to have a focal wall that features a unique color or wallpaper print to give life to your space. Always opt for furniture that fits your family’s needs and lifestyle.
Maëlys’ room includes a blend of local and international finds, from the Montessori Wooden Foldable Triangle from Forest Kids Norway to the Amara 4-in-1 Convertible Crib from Winks Furniture. Solenn admits to loving local brands like Winks Furniture.
“I love that there’s details here on the side that you know, reminds me of the Philippines. I love anything with the Filipino touch,” she said, referring to the crib.
The Montessori triangle, she admits, is a good find, saying, “Super good quality, as you can see, it’s four years old already and it’s still there.”
Tip: Opt for versatile furniture pieces that can grow with your child, like convertible cribs or rockers, to maximize space and functionality. You can also blend cultural elements into your child’s room decor to celebrate heritage and create a sense of belonging.
The room’s layout reflects Solenn’ commitment to practicality and style, with items like the Nesting Mom Cart by Winks x Nikki Gil-Albert providing both storage and mobility. The Mia Hamborg Shuffle Table from Taylor Living, which she shared, “You can move it around and kind of design it,” adds a playful touch since “it looks like kid’s blocks.”
Soft play shapes from J&R Life offer a safe and enjoyable environment for Maëlys to explore. Solenn said, “I love that it’s not an eyesore so even if you want to move it around and put it in the TV room or in the adult room, it doesn’t look like a kiddie thing. So I think this is very practical for the kid’s room.”
Tip: Prioritize safety and functionality by choosing furniture and decor that are both aesthetically pleasing and child-friendly.
Instead of the typical rubber playmats, Solenn used weatherproof rugs from Eurobel Rugs. Aside from being easy to clean from “anything that spills or the milk that spills or saliva or whatever,” Solenn said that “it kind of serves as like padding. So instead of putting like playmats for kids’ rooms, I just decided to put this. Still looks mature but at the same time, friendly for kids.”
Tip: Choose durable and easy-to-clean furnishings to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for your child.
Solenn chose the Amara 6-Drawer Dresser with Changing Table Topper from Winks Furniture, which matches Maëlys’ crib. She also used Stuk Clothes Organizers from Ikea Philippines to help keep Maëlys’ cabinets organized and clutter-free.
Tip: Invest in matching furniture sets to create a cohesive and visually appealing space. Encourage organizational skills from a young age by providing adequate storage solutions.
Tili’s Room
Tili’s room exudes charm and personality, a perfect fit for the cute girl who joined her mom in giving a tour of her room. It features touches of sage green, well-loved pieces from their old home, and playful decor pieces.
Solenn once again made use of a Pattern Pad wallpaper to add a pop of color. For the lights, Solenn shared that they mixed warm lights with brighter lights, “so that this room becomes more like a natural haven when it comes to light.” She added, “I don’t like it when it’s too white or too yellow.”
Tip: Choose lighting fixtures that mimic daylight to create a cozy ambiance conducive to relaxation and play.
Aside from featuring a mix of old and new furnishings, Solenn made sure to incorporate a touch of whimsy in Tili’s room, such as the Vindkast Floor Lamp from Ikea Philippines “to add a bit of frou-frou and girliness to [your] room.”
Tip: Tailor your child’s room design to suit their age and personality, incorporating elements that reflect their interests and preferences.
Both Maëlys and Tili’s rooms and bathrooms have closets from Oppein, providing ample storage for their belongings as they grow. Solenn emphasizes the importance of safety by outfitting the bathrooms with waterproof plugs and easy-to-clean surfaces.
Solenn shared that they chose to work with a selected number of suppliers and brands, such as Oppein for the closets and other furnishings, Niro Granite for bathroom floorings and shower walls, and Pergo from EuroKonzept for room floorings. She said, “We got them [these brands] for the whole house [as well] because we thought it would be easier to speak to certain suppliers and not have to follow up things here and there. I just wanted to keep the list short so that I know who I’m talking to and so that I’m very familiar with their products.”
Tip: Ensure to have ample storage space for all your child’s clothes and other items as these can increase exponentially fast. And if your child has a dedicated bathroom, prioritize safety by using waterproof plugs and slip-free floors and surfaces, or use slip-resistant mats.
And if you’re building or renovating your home, consider Solenn’s tip in carefully picking out trusted suppliers for everything you need to minimize stress and hassle.
Ultimately, we love Solenn’s approach to designing Maëlys’ and Tili’s rooms that embodies the perfect blend of style, functionality, and practicality. By incorporating personal touches, cultural elements, and child-friendly features, Solenn has created inviting and nurturing spaces that reflect her love for her daughters and her dedication to creating a room filled with warmth and creativity.
