Andi and Ellie Eigenmann Embrace Life by the Sea: 'Experience is the Best Teacher'

A couple of years ago, Andi Eigenmann decided to forego a glamorous life in show business and make her island life dream a reality by moving to Siargao. Now, she’s fondly reminiscing about that major decision and feeling grateful that her firstborn, Ellie, was there to support and go through the changes with her.

“It seems like it was only yesterday when we were craving for a life by the sea. Where we can surf and swim all day and walk home barefoot under unicorn-colored sunsets, as Ellie would call it. And now we’re here,” Andi writes as a caption to a throwback photo of her and Ellie.

She adds, “Come to think of it, in JUST almost two years, our lives have changed immensely! Has time went by quickly or slow enough for everything to change this much?! I can’t decide!”

The mom of two shares that it was Ellie who went through the biggest adjustment living on an island. She “wasn’t brave enough” to go into the water without her mom and because she was a picky eater, “she was weirded out by the smell of fish and eating on banana leaves with our hands,” Andi says.

Fast forward two years later and that same picky eater is now enjoying the fish and banana leaves and eating it with “forbidden” rice! Not to mention, she’s become such a good ate to her sister, Lilo, too.

Andi, who recently opened up about her postpartum depression, has said before that their home in Siargao makes her look forward to brighter and sunny days. She's fully embraced a more laidback lifestyle and she’s settling in her new normal — “juggling 2^nd grader mom duties + newborn breastfeeding mom duties + house chores + other responsibilities, to smoothly going about all of those with the addition of simple self-care,” she says in another Instagram post.

But even with her hands full, she can count on partner Philmar Alipayo to make their little family “all sorts of happy.”

“Our lives have definitely changed, and I can’t help but be proud, because other than adjusting to a life in Siargao with our growing family, and a new bundle of joy, seeing all the great changes in Ellie and the person she is turning out to be is such an achievement to me,” Andi writes. “Experience is the best teacher indeed!”
