In February 2021, a mom had a strong feeling that the newborn they brought home after giving birth in a hospital in Rizal is not hers. It turned out that her maternal instinct was right when a DNA test proved they are involved in a case of baby switching. It was a manifestation of lukso ng dugo, but in reverse!
With the help of the GMA-7 show, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS), moms Aphril Sifiata and Margareth Mulleno were reunited with their real babies after being switched at birth. On February 28, 2021, mommy Margareth finally held her baby Kairo and so is mommy Aphril with her baby Ayu.
Months after the baby switching case was solved, KMJS host, Jessica Soho, who also became the two babies' ninang, invited the two families again on the show.
In the episode last December 19, 2021, the Sifiatas and Mullenos gave updates about their families. Both said they had to go through some adjustments because of the differences between the two babies. Aphril's partner, Marvin, says "malakas po siya (Ayu) umiyak kumpara kay Kairo."
Margareth's partner, Kim Jasper, said the hospital offered an apology and an explanation on what happened but their family wanted to "move on as soon as possible" so, "hindi na po namin pinush 'yung kaso."
While they have moved on from the ordeal they faced, the families chose to keep their communication lines open to each other.
Margareth shared, "nanghihingi kami ng mga update sa bata, kasi siyempre po nami-miss din namin si Ayu tapos sila po nami-miss po nila si Kairo."
They grew close to each other that in fact, they even spend sleepovers and arrange playdates every once in a while. The two babies instantly became best buddies! Margareth would even describe the two babies as "kambal na sila."
If there is one lesson they learned after the teleserye-like experience, for dad Kim Jasper, it's that, "lahat ng baby magkakamukha sa umpisa." True enough. LOL!
But kidding aside, Jessica was happy to be one of the instruments that helped both families celebrate their first Christmas together.
As a final message, Jessica pointed out how there's a "very thin line, pwedeng-pwedeng nag-iba nang husto 'yung kanilang mga kapalaran. Pero dahil they kept the faith and nagpursige sila, umabot tayo sa puntong ito, na they're okay."
Happy Christmas to both the Sifiata and Mulleno families!
