Alex Gonzaga Scolded By Ate Toni Over Viral Tweet: ‘You Are After The Sanctity Of Marriage’

Siblings Toni Gonzaga and Alex Gonzaga admit they had a tiff over a viral tweet that Alex replied to shortly after she announced her wedding with Mikee Morada.

Toni, 37, revealed it in her vlog last Sunday, February 7, 2021, where she invited the couple, Alex, 33, and Mikee, 33, as guests.

While asking for updates about their life as newlyweds, she brought up the incident where Alex’s reply to a parody account last January 17 quickly went viral.

It was on that morning that Alex announced through a vlog that she and Mikee, the incumbent councilor of Lipa City, Batangas, have already been married for two months. They had an intimate civil wedding ceremony in November 2020, attended by immediate family members and held in the Gonzaga family home in Tanay, Rizal.

Alex replies to “maputokan” tweet

The happy news from Alex and Mikee trended on social media all morning of January 17. But in the afternoon, Alex’s witty reply to a parody account of their Mommy Pinty also went viral.

A Twitter user with the handle @mommy_pinty tweeted and tagged Alex (published as is): “Congratulations to my bunso! Pwede na maputokan [sneezing face emoji]”

To which Alex replied, “Anong pwede na? Tapos na! [grinning face with sweat emoji]”

The funny reply quickly got thousands of likes and retweets. It was also reported by legitimate news outlets, including PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

Alex calls sister “Cardinal Tin”

In Toni’s vlog, the singer-actress-TV host found an opening to ask her brother-in-law’s reaction over the viral tweet. She admitted that she and Alex were “nagkainitan” because of what her younger sister did.

“Gusto kong i-discuss kay Mikee ito, e” Toni said with a serious face as she turned to Mikee. “Dapat i-te-text ko si Mikee, pero isinumbong ko na lang sa Mommy na nagkainitan kami ni Catherine.”

Catherine is Alex’s real name.

Toni then asked Mikee: “Ano ‘yung reaction mo nung nag-reply siya sa parody ng Mommy? Tapos pinikap ng lahat ng news —”

Alex then playfully interrupted: “Na pinalaki mo…”

Toni quickly explained her side: “Kasi pinikap ng news, sabi ko, napaka—”

“Na tinawag kitang Cardinal Tin, kasi talagang you are after the sanctity of marriage,” Alex interjected again, prompting Toni to laugh.

“Tin” is Toni’s nickname from her real name Celestine. Cardinal Tin is a play on words and refers to the late Jaime Cardinal Sin, the former Manila archbishop.

“Ang ganda ng kanyang wedding, tapos the next day…”

Alex also copied Toni’s reaction when the latter confronted her over the tweet. “Sinira mo at binastos mo ang wedding at ang institution of marriage!” Alex shouted in mock anger as she repeated what her sister supposedly told her.

Meanwhile, Toni just laughed while watching her younger sister.

Alex continued, “Toni G as the preservation of the institution of marriage. Napaka-OA!”

Toni then explained her side. “Kasi ang ganda nung kanyang marriage, ang ganda ng wedding, ang solemn ng ceremony. Tapos the next day, ‘putokan na.’

“Sabi ko, ano kaya yung issue? Bakit ganito ang issue, putukan? Tapos nakita ko, ay, bakit niya nireplyan itong parody na ‘to?!”

Toni asks for Mike’s reaction

Before Alex could interrupt again, Toni asked Mikee if he got angry when he saw his wife’s naughty reply to the parody account.

Mikee smiled and gave it a thought before answering: “Hindi naman masyado.”

According to Mikee, he was more annoyed with what Alex did in one of her recent vlogs, where she pulled out two pieces of pandesal from inside her top. That’s because what she did in the video almost revealed her breasts.

“Nagalit ka?” Toni asked, confirming Mikee’s reaction to the vlog.

“Oo, parang… ‘ano ba yan, ginagawa mo?’ Kasi private ano na ‘yun, e,” Mikee replied.
