These celebrity moms get to celebrate Mother's Day for the first time this 2023, and they're all for it!
Iza Calzado
Getting pregnant came unexpectedly to Iza Calzado, 40, but she sure embraced the motherhood the moment she gave birth, on January 26, 2023, to her and her husband Ben Wintle's panganay they've named Deia Amihan. She reserved their baby's first two months just for themselves before sharing the good news to the public (read here).
Iza admitted, "Hindi siya madali. I am still recovering from it all but every day gets better and better...This is, by far, the most challenging yet fulfilling journey I have been on and I know it is only the beginning."
A day before Mother's Day, Iza shared one of the realities of motherhood she's now starting to master: answering the call the of nature while giving nourishment to your baby.
Angelica Panganiban
Being a mom is dream-come-true for Angelica Panganiban, thus her reaction after she gave birth, on September 20, 2022, to her daughter Amila Sabine, nicknamed Bean: "Bean waiting for you all my life."
Since then Angelica, with her fiancé and Bean's dad Gregg Homan by her side, has been on journey of motherhood beyond her imagination—and endless learnings (read here). Then there are lessons in breastfeeding, co-sleeping, traveling with a baby, not forgetting self-care, and a lot more.
Indeed, Angelica has found peace as a first-time mom at 36.
Jessy Mendiola
For her first Mother's Day, Jessy Mendiola got the perfect gift of witnessing her and her husband Luis Manzano's daughter Isabella Rose, nicknamed Peanut, rolled over just before turning 5 months old. Baby Peanut was born on December 28, 2022 (read her birth story here).
Bianca King
Just Bianca King's sister-in-law Iza Calzado, the-now Australia-based actress is embracing motherhood, from the time she found out she was pregnant to giving birth, and now that she and her husband Ralph Wintle are navigating parenthood on their own.
"Motherhood," Bianca wrote on her Mother's Day post. "Hands on is an understatement for the mama who lives far away from friends and family."
She went to relating how they're coping: "Teamwork with dad gets better each week. We are so grateful for his presence. But the raw reality of the days when dad has to work and rest in the other room is overwhelming. The intensity of cycling through breast feeding, changing and soothing is tough and lonely. Every night is an adventure. Some nights we party hard - up all night."
She added, "We need to be resilient handling baby alone while trying to feed ourselves, tidy and squeeze in a bathroom trip while holding baby. All that in survival mode.
"Sleep when the baby sleeps doesn’t apply to those of us who use that time for chores. I see my friends in the PH with night nurses and nannies. Motherhood with a village is also challenging. I wish I organised more postpartum help in advance. We are so grateful to have had friends and family fly over last minute to cook and clean up after us."
Bianca also pointed out, "I’m not the only mama going through this. It will make us stronger but it doesn’t mean we don’t need help. I’ve learned to just say “please help me” to anyone within reach.
"Pretty curated pictures are not reality. There are many days of tears, eating standing up while breastfeeding and unglamorous attempts to do 3 things at once. Motherhood is the greatest endless marathon we will ever endure. And it’s an honour to be in this role - a little human’s source of food, comfort and security."
Bianca got encouraging comments, including from Iza, who told her: "You are a SUPER mama!!! Love you, B!!!"
