Bimby Aquino Has No Problem With People Calling Him Gay: Just Don’t Attack HimKris Aquino's son sets the record straight.by Kitty Elicay .
Bimby Aquino is well aware of the public’s perception of him but the 14-year-old is taking it all in stride.
Last Friday, April 23, 2021, his mom Kris Aquino shared a video on her Facebook page where she and Bimby had an honest, open conversation and answered each other’s questions. At the start of the video, the mom asked point blank how Bimby feels about being called gay, and if he is indeed one.
“Wala, I don’t really feel anything. I just feel like… ‘O sige, if you think I’m gay, all right dude. But you do realize na [the] gay community sa Philippines is a strong community,” Bimby replied.
“It did not go through my mind, ‘cause I know what I am. I’m straight as [an] arrow,” the 14-year-old adds.
Kris also assured her son that she’ll be able to accept him no matter what he chooses to be in life. “I really don’t care, honestly. Whatever you choose to be, it will be fine with me, for as long as you excel,” she says.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
But the two still chose to set the record straight, “once and for all.” Kris asked Bimby if he ever questioned his sexual orientation and he confidently replied, “I love girls.”
Speaking like a true mom, Kris interjected, “Don’t love them too much yet.”
Bimby then looked into the camera and said, “I’m straight. I like women, I don’t like boys.”
To this, Kris replied, “Whatever you choose to be, it’s none of their business.”
But Bimby, showing wisdom beyond his years, pointed out that people will always have something to say about him. Especially because he and his mom have become public figures.
“They’re entitled to their opinion on what they think about me. Just as long as you don’t attack me,” he says. “If you say, ‘Uy, I think Bimb’s gay.’ I’ll respect that, I’ll say, ‘No, I’m not gay.’ But if you say, ‘Uy, beki si Bimb, kadiri.’ That’s wrong.”
“As long as you debate with someone at may respeto ka sa tao, ok lang. if you have different opinions, ok lang ‘yan, sure,” Bimby adds
Kris Aquino’s sons have been subjected to online bullying for the past few years, from her eldest Josh Aquino having autism spectrum disorder to Bimby’s sexual orientation. While Kris has staunchly defended her children, it turns out Bimby has been aware of the bullying all along — and the way he handles the criticism is truly admirable.
In a 2017 video uploaded by his mom, he hit back at a netizen who questioned his gender. “Why would you judge a child?”CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
Kris also added, “Don’t judge a child, and don’t make the decision for the child.”
Watch their video below, which Kris describes as “Bimb’s story. Ang kwento niya, ang katotohanan ng buhay niya, ang mga pangarap niya, ang mga natutunan niya.”
