Everyone's excited for soon-to-be mom Iza Calzado, who announced her pregnancy with husband Ben Wintle two months ago.
During the media conference for their new Viu original series K-Love, Smart Parenting asked Iza what her pregnancy cravings are.
Instantly, the 40-year-old award-winning actress said it varies. For one, she said, "Malamig na tubig."
She then teased fellow actor Jake Cuenca that she was craving his hug."For your hug, hug me please. Salamat. Kakainis ba?" she quipped.

Iza then said revealed that she's into fresh fruits. "Oranges, it's fruits or anything. Pero iba yung joy ng fresh fruits."
She also got candid on how social media apps like Instagram reels are testing her self-control. "Masasabi ko lang, sabi ko bakit ba ngayon ako nabuntis dito sa time ng [Instagram] reels? Kasi ang daming pagkain. pag tinitingnan ko yung cookies, ang sarap-sarap."
She continued, "Buti nalang meron tayong enough self-control. I indulge ha."
In a previous interview, she explained that she's been very careful with her pregnancy since she's in what experts call advanced maternal age.
When it comes to diet, Iza said, "Ina-allow ko rin ang sarili ko na, ‘Kumain ka, girl.’ For years and years of my life, I’m on this diet. There’s some guilt, but at the same time, ‘Teka lang…’ Pero alam mo rin na hindi dapat tumodo."
Iza has also been working out, with her doctor's permission, of course.

Are pregnancy food cravings linked to a baby's gender?
Netizens, who are moms, guess that Iza might be having a baby girl because of her craving. However, there are no studies supporting this yet.
In a previous article, linking pregnancy food cravings to a baby's gender is a myth. Some people believe that if a pregnant woman craves salty food such as potato chips, she's likely to have a baby boy, whereas if she prefers sweets and citrus cravings, she's likely to have a baby girl.
The only way to find out a baby's gender is by taking tests or through an ultrasound around weeks 18-22 of your pregnancy.

A word about pregnancy food cravings
A 2016 UK study led by A.J. Hill on the nutritional and clinical associations of pregnancy food cravings meanwhile assures Iza that while cravings are common for pregnant women and may change their diet, it doesn't mean it will result in obesity.
"It may contribute to a small increase in energy intake; however, this did not impact on overall dietary intake, nor was it associated with excessive gestational weight gain, maternal glycaemia or offspring outcome measurements," the study concludes.

However, any food craving should be taken in moderation. This is to ensure that the baby in the womb will be healthy, and the mom will not experience difficulties during childbirth.
Fellow preggy mom Bettinna Carlos, shared a good tip for pregnant moms when it comes to giving in to their cravings.
"Yung mindfulness na, "Is this good for my baby even if I eat a lot?" Kung nutrient-dense siya, walang problema, wala akong guilt dapat. And if I would eat a little of not the best stuff for me and my baby, okay lang kasi konti-konti lang siya, so moderation talaga is key."
