Nothing could ever truly prepare a woman for motherhood. It comes with unique experiences that you only understand once you've become a mother. The stretch marks, the weight gain, the perpetual eye bags—these become badges of honor. The sleepless nights, the cups of coffee that have gone cold, the rushed toilet breaks—these all become part of the journey.
In an ideal world, moms support one other. Motherhood is already hard. Receiving hurtful comments about our bodies, which literally went under the knife, has to stop.
Based in Bjerkvik, Norway, 25-year-old Mikkaella Pith Brosas is the content creator behind the Facebook page, Mommy Miks & Kiel. Her son, Kiel, is one year old and four months.
She shared on August 14 an open letter to those who shame her postpartum body, including those who tell her, "Losyang na, isa pa lang anak!"
She shared a powerful photo showing how her body has changed postpartum. Her sentiments resonated with several moms, with her post gaining over 18k shares and 3k reactions as of writing.
Mommy Miks allowed Smart Parenting to feature her post. "At first, I was really surprised na maraming nag-share and react to my post. Kasi sa totoo lang I seldom post my body on social media after I gave birth.
She added, "It was just a random day na gusto ko lang mag post about my MOMBOD and because of that I read a lot of opinions from other Mommies na nakakarelate din daw sila at masaya naman ako doon kasi hindi pala ako nag-iisa."
However, she mentioned that her post also elicited negative comments, and some unfortunately came from fellow mommies too.

Smart Parenting editors made minor edits to Mommy Miks' post for clarity.
Hintayin niyo lang siya lumaki, araw-araw akong naka-full make up habang naglalaba." —Mikkaella Pith Brosas

Hintayin niyo lang siya lumaki, araw-araw akong naka-full make up habang naglalaba.
I know na mataba ako at aware ako doon. Kaya please lang, stop being so comfortable commenting on other people's bodies.
She ended her post with a quote, "Everyone has to sacrifice themselves to replace this thing called motherhood."

A call to support other moms
One mom commented on Mommy Miks' post, "Mataba man tayo or payat, mag-ayos man tayo or hindi may masasabi't masasabi pa din sa atin.
On August 23, Mommy Miks edited her post to include a message for moms who left negative comments.
She cited the negative comments that she received in her post, which, unfortunately, came from fellow moms.
"PANAY KA KASI LAMON!"
"AKO NGA PUMAYAT AGAD AKO AFTER MANGANAK."

This is all about our sacrifices and us being the BEST MOM na gagawin lahat para sa ating mga anak. Hindi naman lahat kailangan madaliin. Let's just respect each others body & opinion nalang po. Thank you!"
