Like most of us, 'viral' YouTube content creator Ryan Morales Reyes or Ninong Ry, is experiencing the impact of the rise in Covid-19 cases. Most of his crew members are sick, which forced him to shoot his recent cooking videos by his lonesome.
The situation, however, did not stop him from creating relevant content. To know the best recipes to serve this Omicron season, Ninong Ry took to Instagram Live and asked his 'inaanaks’ or followers' opinion. It's no surprise that his fans asked for soups that can help those with fever and flu.
Trangkasoup: dapat masarap din
Despite the unrefined style in his cooking videos, Ninong Ry is actually a culinary graduate from De La Salle University-College of St. Benilde, and was previously a head chef at an unnamed restaurant. His humor and bravado have earned him 1.2M followers on his YouTube channel alone, and have a certain appeal to men who cook, including dads in our Smart Parenting community.
His recent video released on Monday, January 10, 2022, which earned over 200,000 views one day after posting has three trangkasoup recipes using chicken stock and coconut water. To make his recipes healthy and tasty at the same time, Ninong Ry picked nutritious ingredients like malunggay, ginger and coconut water which are perfect for people with flu.
While making sure that the recipes are healthy, this Youtube sensation did not sacrifice taste. “Masarap siya… ayaw natin ng pakiramdam na parang na-dedeprive tayo dahil may sakit tayo. Gusto natin, somewhat indulgent parin,” he shares in the video.
3 trangkasoups ideas for sick family members
1. Sotanghon soup with coconut and ginger
Ninong Ry added coconut meat and coconut water, which has electrolytes such as potassium, sodium and manganese, to the usual sotanghon soup to boost its nutritional value. In this sotanghon recipe, he also used ginger which is a super food that has a host of benefits including relief from pain, nausea, colds, flu and sore throat.
