YouTube content creator and first-time dad Lincoln "Cong TV" Velasquez once again took millennial parenting to the next level in his vlog entitled PAPACOCON.
In the vlog which was uploaded on February 24, Cong faces a dilemma where his son Zeus Emmanuel or Kidlat doesn't like to be carried by him. The 7-month-old also prefers his mom Viy Cortez or screen time over his dad. Viy said it's because Cong spends a lot of time outside than with his son.
That's when the vlogger, who has over 11 million subscribers thought of creating his version of Ms. Rachel's Songs For Littles learning videos to get the attention of his son. He called it, "Learn with Papacocon."
Did it work?
Cong first showed the video to his fiance Viy, who was very surprised by his effort. In the video, Cong tackled different topics like saying Papa, singing nursery rhymes, counting numbers, and identifying shapes, complete with a lullaby.
"Nakakatuwa ka kasi gumawa ka ng ganyan para kay Kidlat," Viy said.
Cong explained, "Customized yan. Yun kasi ang istorya ni [Ms] Rachel. Ginawa niya 'yan para sa anak niya. Anong akala mo Rachel, ikaw lang ang makakagawa niyan para sa anak mo?"

Viy told Cong, "Wag mo ipapanood yan nang wala ako ah?" To which Cong responded, "Ay, may naiinggit."
Cong then asked his friends and even kids to preview his learning video before he show it to Kidlat. All of the viewers expressed their disapproval.
The vlogger said, "Saan ako nagkamali? Akala ko tama yung curriculum ko eh."
"'Di kay Kidlat, okay yan, kasi customized lang yan para kay Kidlat," he concluded.
Cong was very pleased when Kidlat watched the video with their helper. Kidlat was very responsive, so the happy dad spent more time with his son by strolling around their compound.
Netizens applauded Cong's daddy strategy. One user said, "Customized learning video for Kidlat!! Seems so funny pero the intention was so pure & genuine. Iba talaga ang papa cocon na 'to." Another one said, "PETITION FOR MORE PAPA COCON CONTENTS!"
One user got inspired and said, "Sabi nga nila "It's the thought that counts." Sana lahat ng tatay at aspiring na tatay ganito yung effort pag dating sa mga anak at magiging anak nila."

A note about screen time
While we also applaud Cong's dedication to gaining the attention and bonding with his son, this is also a good opportunity to remind parents about setting screen time limits, especially for babies.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends zero screen time for children zero to 18 months old and no more than an hour per day for children two to five years old. This could lead to behavioral problems, according to experts. Read here activities that you can do with your infant instead.
Nevertheless, a recent study found that not all screen time is bad, as long as parents observe some guidelines. Instead of asking yourself how much screen time is safe, ask whether the shows that your child is watching are age-appropriate and safe.
