Dimples Romana and her husband Boyet Ahmee's youngest child Elio is almost 7 months old. To help him reach his developmental milestones, such as the infant milestones month by month, mom Dimples makes it a point to be present and supportive.
"Skipped a few invites to be with my chunky cheery boy," the actress said in a recent Instagram post, using the full name of her bunso as a hashtag, #ElioJuanManolo. "Worth every priceless second."
Dimples's post has a couple of short videos of the baby learning to stand and walk. Among the 7 month baby milestones are the abilities to stand taller and sit longer with assistance.
Tips in helping your baby walk
The mom of three (Callie, 19; Alonzo, almost 8; and Elio) helps her bunso reach the expected milestones with, based on her post, these tactics:
1. Constant practice
Dimples takes every opportunity for Baby Elio to practice standing up and walking, even when they're supposedly chilling in bed. She lets her baby use her hand to prop himself up and stand.
2. Use encouraging words
Dimples tells the standing Elio, "Nice, good job! You feel happy?" She continues to be encouraging when the baby falls down, "You still did it! It's fine, you try again." Everybody falls."
3. Keep trying
Dimples prods Baby Elio to stand up again by saying, "You for it, go! Hold my hand. Try again, there you go. Go on, nice. You have to hold me two hands, c'mon! There, go! Up, up! It's fine, I got you, baby. Good job, E! Niiice! Nice!
4. Take the extra mile
When Dimples senses that Baby Elio wants to move on from standing, she lets him take baby steps while still holding her hand: "You want to keep walking? Okay, sure, sure." She even sings to encourage him: "Walk towards Mommy, Elio. Walk towards Mommy, Elio."
Dimples keeps rooting for Baby Elio to walk: "Yes, c'mon, you can do this. One step at a time. Good job. Other one. I got you."
As a bonus with this standing/walking exercise, Dimples, who keeps talking to Baby Elio, also helps her son to develop his language and communication skills.
