We can come up with the best gifts for kids from brain-boosting toys, illustrated books, and gifts they can experience, but when your child becomes a toddler or preschooler, they are pretty opinionated about the gifts they really want to receive. That’s why we asked parents from our Facebook group, Smart Parenting Village to ask their kids what they want for Christmas, so we can build a kid-approved holiday wish list.
7 gifts kids want for Christmas
Of course, not all answers are material gifts, and some aren’t even practical — but a kid’s honest opinion can be really funny or heartwarming. If you’re still on the hunt for gifts for your kids, you might want to consider some of the items on this list.
1. “Anything Paw Patrol.” Gavin, 4 and Yuan, 5

We think they’ll love this toy: Paw Patrol Ultimate Rescue – Rocky’s Mini Crane, which comes with a pet figure and a mini crane cart with working treads and a moving crane arm. They can go on rescue missions just like the cartoon series!

And while Legos can get expensive, think of it as an investment: building blocks develop problem-solving skills and a child’s imagination, plus it provides endless hours of play!

Like we said, not all requests were of material things. Then again, a study says having a sibling makes your child a better person, so you may want to think about fulfilling this wish? Heh.
5. “A complete set of Frozen 2 dolls because Elsa’s dress is blue!” Samara, 4

Elsa is wearing the same dress from the film, plus you can also let her hair hang loose! If you have the budget for it, you can also add Anna’s Frozen 2 doll!

6. “Mommy, I want a backhoe (excavator).” Syre, 3, and Kendrix, 4

This CAT excavator looks like the real thing — it moves plus it can actually dig sand and earth! Play with it indoors or take it outdoors and let your child experience sensory play.
7. “I’m already happy ‘cause Santa gave my Christmas wish early — daddy (an OFW) is here na.” Bulele, 5
Apart from Bulele, most kids would also say that the best gift is still their mommy or daddy. Giving them the toys they want is great, but remember that your presence is more valuable than any present. Sit down and play with them, or find activities where you can bond as a family. At the end of the day, these are the memories that they will treasure and will remain in their hearts.
