Breastfeeding While On A Paddle Board Is Coleen Garcia's New Mama Milestone

It's always a joy to see updates of Coleen Garcia's breastfeeding journey with her son, Amari. 

Amari is turning two in September, but based on his mom's Instagram posts, he's not giving his mama milk up anytime soon.

On her Instagram, Coleen shared the details of what she thought could've been some me-time for a busy mama like her in a resort in Bohol.

She said, "It was my first time on the paddle board, and I was finally having some nice alone time."

"Until the little guy spotted me while he was playing in the water."

She adds, "It was nice while it lasted. #strikeanywhere #asinanywhere."

One time, Coleen said she is a "part-time human, full-time baby buffet."

Padede moms like Iya Villania, who just gave birth to her fourth child, Astro Phoenix, can relate.

One of her followers said, "The beauty of breastfeeding. Snacks anytime, anywhere."

Another mom said, "Relate as a bf [breastfeeding] mom! Juskooo!"

Support that you can give for breastfeeding moms

Experts say that breastmilk is best for babies up to two years, but for moms to be able to do it, they would need all the help in the world.

Breastfeeding is not easy, but you can do anything to help.

1. Husbands, please support your wives

You don't have to make grand gestures to show your support to your wife. Through simple ways like refilling her tumbler or telling her that she's awesome, that would mean a lot.

Dads can also take some of the household chores so that the moms can rest - really rest for a bit.

2. Friends, send your breastfeeding mama friends some boobie goodies

Some moms would need lactation supplements when they have been breastfeeding for almost two years. If you've been thinking of checking in on your breastfreeding mom friends, a practical and useful gift would be anything that has malunggay in it - cookies, drinks, or capsules. They would appreciate it a lot and their babies - who will enjoy the overflowing milk - will love you forever.

Coleen also recommend moms to eat healthy when you are breastfeeding because you are eating for two.

"Kailangan talaga kumakain. Kasi breastmilk stays the same, nutritious talaga no matter what. Pero kapag kulang, kinukuha talaga from my nutrition. So ako 'yung parang nanghihina, ako 'yung nakukulangan sa nutrition," Coleen said. 

3. Moms, ask for help

While moms would hope to breastfeed their children until they turn two to maximize its benefits, if you feel like it is already taking a toll on your physical, emotional, or mental health, know that it is okay to ask for help. You can ask for help from your family members if you want to take a few minutes for yourself, or from professionals on how they can help you in your breastfeeding journey.

4. Everyone, please don't judge

The last thing a breastfeeding mom would like to hear are criticisms on why she is still breastfeeding her child when it's already grown up. A mom's decision to stop breastfeeding or to continue breastfeeding is her choice, and we all should respect that. Just like how it's a woman's choice to have no kids or multiple kids.
