On this red-letter day of February 2022, Neri Miranda revealed to her social media followers what she gave her husband Chito Miranda exactly a year ago.
"My Valentine's gift last year," said the actress-turned-entrepreneur in the caption of her video post.
The video shows Chito waking up to his wife's suprise: a white box, which he immediately opened. Inside, there's Neri's letter that he read, telling him that she's pregnant with their second child. He was caught by surprise, but one that's filled with joy.
At that time, Neri and Chito's panganay Miggy was turning 5 years old. Miggy became a kuya with the birth of his baby brother Cash on October 8, 2021. Two months later, Neri introduced, on social media, another member of their family, Pia, who, she said, is the two boys' ate. She also said they're in the process of officially making Pia a part of their family (read here).
Neri has these comforting words to those having a hard time conceiving: "Sa mga nagta-try magkaroon ng baby, wag kayong sumuko. After 2 years of trying and failing, dun kami binigyan ni Lord ulit. Kung kailan hindi na namin inisip."
She pointed out, "Ang dami na rin naming narinig na ganyan na kwento. Yung cousin ni Chito, 10 years nag-try. They gave up on the 10th year, nanganak on the 11th year. Yung di na sila nagpaka stress kung may baby man o wala."
She added, "Try lang ng try. Enjoy lang while trying, hahaha! Malay mo, di ba? Basta magmahalan kayong mag-asawa."
Having a hard time conceiving?
There are several factors that affect the chances of getting pregnant, according to experts:
Age
Men produce millions of new sperm every day, but as they get older, they produce fewer healthy sperm, and the semen, the fluid which contains the sperm, declines, as does the sperm’s ability to move towards the egg.
Women are advised to have children before they turn 35, before the quality of their egg deteriorates and health issues arise that may affect fertility.
Sex position
Many medical practitioners do not believe that a specific sexual position is necessary to conceive. But for women with an abnormally shaped uterus, or a short vaginal canal, finding the right position may be crucial. (Read here for proven ways to get pregnant.)
Timing
This means knowing when you're fertile and understanding your ovulation, as well as the frequency of your intercourse with your partner. Sex every two to three days has been found to increase the possibility of conceiving, but more often if your partner has low sperm count.
