  • With all the things that are going on in your head as a mom - groceries to buy, meals to prepare, chores to do - having a trusted brand for your baby's skin care needs is one less thing to think about.

Every baby's skin type is unique. That's why when you find a product that is suitable or hiyang for your baby's skin, you'll want to stick with it forever.

Johnson's CottonTouch partnered with Smart Parenting to reaffirm the brand’s promise as the only product approved by the Mother and Child Nurses Association of the Philippines (MCNAP), and as the only product triple-tested by pediatricians, dermatologists, and ophthalmologists.

We tapped 10 moms from the Smart Parenting Mom Squad, our mom ambassadors. They have their own trusted baby skincare products for their little ones, but this new variant of Johnson's wash, lotion, and oil is making them turn their heads.

The question is, would Johnson's CottonTouch get the coveted #SPMomApproved seal?

    Meet the moms

These moms were chosen to receive products of Johnson's CottonTouch wash, lotion, and oil to try with their kids. They shared their experiences in an online survey, and 9 moms attended the actual focus group discussion via Zoom.

"What I did before I gave birth, I bought samples of different baby products, tapos I let my baby try, para malaman kung ano yung hiyang sa kanya. The biggest bottle I bought was the Johnson's CottonTouch. That time kasi bago siyang variant, it was newly launched. Luckily, nahiyang naman si baby. Yun na yung ginagamit namin," she said.

With this as the preamble for the FGD, will the moms get a consensus, and award Johnson's CottonTouch the approval of the Smart Parenting moms?

Mommy Sophia shares, "May atopic dermatitis yung baby ko. Nung tinry namin yung Johnson's CottonTouch, okay yung smell niya first and foremost."

"I'm using Johnson's na kasi since my firstborn, pero different variant. Nung tinry ko yung CottonTouch, wala namang adverse effects," Mommy Ella adds.

When asked if they prefer imported products, Mommy Nikki said it doesn't matter, "As long as maghihiyang si baby, and affordable, as long as hindi magkakaroon ng side effects on my daughter."

For Mommy Geli, "Gentle kailangan, kasi sensitive ung skin ng second baby ko, so hindi dapat matatapang yung ingredients, yun talaga yung hanap ko."

Mommy Jia, who has a toddler adds, "I'm surprised with the scent. The scent is nice for her age."

When it comes to purchasing baby care products, the moms preferred going to the grocery and convenience stores. Mommy Epo said, "Mas preferred ko na nakikita yung product, at least malaman ko kung mabango."

For Mommy Victoria who has been using a different brand for her toddler, said, "Availability is not great, walang promotions in Lazada. Super sweaty baby during playtime, so we're looking for something that will give comfort at the same time get rid of his amoy pawis."

She reveals, they have been using unscented baby products until 18 months because she thought that's the safer option for her baby's skin.

"I'm so happy I found this product, because it really works for him when it comes to scent," Mommy Victoria adds.

    Influencers

For these moms, an important factor when choosing their baby products is when it's recommended by the people dear to them, and of course, moms who can relate to their experiences.

Mommy Nikki said, "Yung recommended talaga by fellow mommies, kasi as a new mom, I have zero knowledge talaga." She adds, "I'm willing to spend for our babies para di sila magka-side effects."

Mommy Thara said, "Same, I'm a young mom, I was 22 when I gave birth, I was really clueless." So she used baby products that are recommended by moms.

For Mommy Victoria, mommy communities like the Smart Parenting Village help her decide. "Syempre first, dapat recommended by experts. Second, I always look for testimonials sa mga groups, for example, sa Smart Parenting Village, ilalagay ko doon, "Best lotion." I see the comments, I search for that myself. Iba-iba din kasi ang babies."

Level of anxiety with child's skin

Moms were asked how anxious are they when it comes to caring for their baby's skin. Some of them have kids with sensitive skin, and others had skin-related concerns like jaundice and eczema.

"Sobrang anxious ako with my second child since kasi medyo sensitive pa siya.

For Mommy Geli who has two kids, she learned it the hard way. "Sa firstborn ko di masyado sensitive, pero tumaas yung anxiety level ko sa second ko, nagkaroon siya ng eczema, nagsusugat yung cheeks niya, naging mas conscious na kami sa products na gagamitin."

She adds, "So nag-co-consider na talaga kami ng mga ingredients ng mga baby products na gagamitin kasi may mga babies pala talaga na very sensitive yung skin nila."

Mommy Sophia adds, nakaka-add ng validation for the product if my pediatrician recommends it. And if I read through the certification ng product. It's nice if clinically tried pala ito."

    Honest review

It was quite a smooth and fun discussion, and the moms had a great time sharing their experiences and realizations after using the Johnson's CottonTouch products.

Mommy Jia said, "I beleive ito yung best variant for her age yet, and gusto ko na hindi sya too greasy, kasi toddler na siya so super right lang for her age."

Mommy Thara reveals, "I don't really use oil. I don't use lotion kasi i dont want to risk yung sensitive skin ni baby. When I tried it, okay naman siya. Ambango bango niya na! Kasi medyo pawisin din siya."

    Packaging

Mommy Thara suggests that Johnson CottonTouch become available in travel-size bottles.

They also agree that the lotion should also come in squeeze tube packaging so that it can be easily used until the last drop.

    Scent

Mommy Victoria said, and the moms agree, "When you have a toddler, you need something na talagang nagpapabango sa kanya para alam mo kung  nasan siya. Char!"

The moms agree that the scent is just right, "Di pa talaga pawisin, pero amoy baby pa rin!"

    Availability

Mommy Victoria said, "Availability is superb. Kahit saan may Johnson's I swear." Two moms hoped that the new variant will be available in their areas in Antipolo.

    Ability to moisturize

Mommy Victoria loves the CottonTouch lotion, "Kasi when I touch the product it's very light and very soft. She said its quality and scent is comparable to the imported brand that she has been using.
