Yasmine captioned the image with, “Aurora Sofia E. Vargas” along with a pink flower and hearts, and the hashtags #wearefinallyhome and #dec26, the latter indicating the birthdate a day after Christmas.

A sensitive pregnancy

Alfred has shared a few months ago that Yasmine has been dealing with a “very sensitive” pregnancy. He shared at the time, “I treat her like a queen, like a princess. Kasi everything she likes, I try my best to get it, lalo na pag naglilihi siya.”

Yasmine is said to have suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, a medical term used for severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Alfred admitted that Yasmine also had it during her third pregnancy, but according to him, what makes it more difficult is she is also suffering from generalized anxiety disorder or GAD. “Suddenly, nagkaka-panic attack siya without reason,” he explained.

Yasmine also documented her pregnancy journey on social media, sharing updates and the challenges she faced. This includes being on bed rest for nearly 30 weeks due to premature contractions.

Alfred and Yasmine’s older children are two daughters, Alexandra Milan and Aryanna Cassandra, and 4-year-old son Alfredo Cristiano IV.

Other celebrity moms who have suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum include Bianca Gonzalez-Intal, Divine Lee, and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton.

New study on morning sickness

Last December 13, a study published in the Nature Journal discloses the root cause of morning sickness in pregnant women–a hormone called GDF15. The baby produces the said hormone during pregnancy and it acts on the brain stem, significantly contributing to morning sickness, including its most severe form, hyperemesis gravidarum. Researchers acknowledge that they still do not fully understand the hormone’s mechanism.

These findings, along with new studies, offer hope for the development of treatments and preventive measures to address severe pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting.
