'Pika, Pika': Pokemon Run On Feb 2025 Opens Registration

Level up your Pokémon adventure with Pokémon Run 2025 at the SM MOA Complex. This RUNRIO INC. hosted event urges runners to unleash their inner trainers and join any of their 4 categories: 1K, 3K, 5K, or 10K run on February 9, 2025. The early bird registration has passed but registration opens on November 16 at 8:00 AM.

Pokémon Run 2025 has provided a preview of the finisher's medal which features Pikachu's face—this might just be enough reason to convince your child to run with you!

Registration will open via Race Roster, and a number of details have also been revealed including the Finisher's Medal, Race Bib, and Race Shirt.

About Pokemon

Pokémon was created by Satoshi Tajiri, a Japanese video game designer, who drew inspiration from his childhood hobby of collecting insects and combined it with his love for video games. He imagined a game where players could collect, trade, and battle creatures. According to a BBC article, though initially reluctant, Nintendo eventually supported the Pokémon project, especially after Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto joined as a mentor.

Originally known as "Pocket Monsters," Pokémon became more than just a video game; it expanded into a trading card collection and an anime series. The said article details that after its 1996 release in Japan, Pokémon made its U.S. debut in August 1998. Despite its Japanese origins, the franchise quickly spread worldwide, fueling what became known as “Pokémania” around the turn of the 21st century.

Set in a fictional countryside filled with wild creatures, its first video game series, Pokémon Red Version and Blue Version, encouraged players to explore fields, rivers, and forests within a fantasy world, not to kill the monsters, but to capture, tame, and train them. By the end of 1999, Nintendo revealed the game had generated approximately $5 billion, equaling the entire U.S. video game industry at the time.
