Celebrity kids are usually expected to follow their parents’ footsteps under the limelight of show business - acting, singing, modeling and such.
However, some chose to take a different path away from the glitz and glamor of their parents’ career, and took the route with the grit, sweat and competition in sports.
Smart Parenting rounded up a list of celebrity kids who are not only into sports, but are also awarded in their chosen field.
Kids of celebrities who excel in sports
1. Juliana Gomez - fencing
The only daughter of Rep. Richard Gomez and Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez, Juliana Gomez made into recent headlines when she bagged a gold medal in UAAP. Her chosen sport, fencing, was also his father’s sport way back then. In January 2023, she also won a silver medal in the Southeast Asian Fencing Federation Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She also competed and won last year in Indonesia and Thailand.
Aside from fencing, Juliana is also into volleyball.
Check out Milo Philippines for fencing classes for kids.
2. Yohan Agoncillo - swimming
Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo’s eldest child, Yohan, chose swimming as her sport. In September 2022, Juday shared a congratulatory message to her announcing that Yohan won in several swimming events: first place in butterfly, third in backstroke and second in 100M freestyle. What’s more incredible is that Yohan did all her swimming training while doing school work and finishing college applications!
As early as 12 years old, Yohan was a veteran in swimming competitions. In 2017, she competed in the Palarong NCR. Yohan started competing in 2016 and bagged four gold medals and three bronze medals in her first event!

3. Scarlett Kramer - taekwondo
Just last year, Doug and Cheska Kramer’s second daughter Scarlett won a silver medal in her first ever face-to-face sparring tournament.
Her parents said that Scarlett struggled with self-confidence, and at times questioned herself if taekwondo is the right sport for her. But she continued to train, and even after every frustration she challenged herself and came back.
Even though Dad Doug is an experienced professional basketball player, it is still different because taekwondo is a contact sport. He said, “It was tough to watch you fall down and get hit, but every time you got up and pressed forward. There is still a lot to learn and we promise you, we will always be here to cheer you on and support you and remind you to never give up!”

4. Kiel Sotto - jiu-jitsu
Kiel Sotto, the eldest child of Oyo Sotto and Kristine Hermosa, chose a daring sport - jiu-jitsu.
Jiu-jitsu is a self-defense martial art and combat sport based on grappling, ground fighting and submission holds. Oyo and Kristine are proud and beaming parents as they both shared photos from the day of his competition, bringing not only all of their children, but also cousin Mic, son of Marc Pingris and Danica Sotto.
Aside from jiu-jitsu, Kiel and his other siblings also do biking and motocross races with Dad Oyo.
Kiel is currently enrolled in DEFTAC Philippines. Check out more details here if you are interested in introducing jui-jitsu to your kids visit this link.

Jakob Poturnak, son of Ina Raymundo, was only 5 years old when he started playing baseball.
The proud mom shared a video of his training and said, “We’re happy to be here and extremely proud of Jakob that he made it this far. From playing in the fields of Collegeio de San Agustin, Sto. Niño & Barangka Marikina, Clark Pampanga (just to name a few) to here. It’s been quite a journey! Now you’re playing in front of MLB scouts. Surreal!”
Jakob is only 18 years old but is already playing for Canadian Junior National Team against Major League Baseball affiliate teams in Florida.
6. Lucho Agoncillo - football
Another entry from the Santos-Agoncillo family, Lucho Agoncillo is now grown up and competes in football. Recently, Dad Ryan Agoncillo shared some action snaps of Lucho's games. And it was really action-packed and intense!
It was just like yesterday when we all thought that Lucho is still Juday and Ryan’s ‘baby boy’, but now he has grown up and is already competing!
Lucho is a part of Arayat Football Club, which has a ‘unique approach to developing the full potential of Philippine football youth.’ Check out Arayat Football Club on Instagram to know more.

The eldest son of “Pambansang Kamao” Manny Pacquiao and Jinkee Pacquiao, chose to follow in his father’s footsteps in boxing.
Just last year, Emmanuel ‘Jimuel’ Pacquiao Jr. won his first amateur fight in San Diego, California. It was his first sanctioned bout, aside from the unsanctioned fights he had done in Manila.
Though the shoes he was about to fill are as big as his dad’s accomplishments in boxing, Pacquiao Jr. is eager to create his own name. As to date, he has already won 7 amateur boxing fights!
8. Zia Dantes - swimming
The stunning daughter of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera is not only a musician and singer (when Dad Dingdong plays guitar), but also an awarded swimmer!
Just recently, proud mom Marian Rivera shared a photo of Zia in her Instagram stories, “So proud of you mahal!” Zia, only 7 yrs old, already bagged a bronze medal in her first ever swimming competition.
In February 2023, Marian and Dingdong first shared that Zia and Sixto are taking swimming lessons. Zia is surely a fast learner!
