Andi Eigenmann On Why Sharing Weight Loss Photos No Longer Feels Like A Form Of Self-Care

The mom of three felt the need to step back for some self-reflection.

Andi Eigenmann recently took to Instagram to share the story behind her latest profile picture, which shows her walking on the beach as the wind blows through her curly locks.

The actress, who's based in Siargao, wrote in the caption of her post that her photo was taken in between takes of a photo shoot.

"Just because," Andi pointed out. "Not to promote a business. Not to share something cute or funny a member of my family has done." Family is, of course, her fiancé Philmar Alipayo and their two kids Lilo and Koa, plus Andi's firstborn child Ellie, whose father is Jake Ejercito.

Andi added another point: "And not to show progress pics of how much weight I've lost."

She then explained, "Don't get me wrong! I like to share my personal fitness goals on here, to inspire others who have their own, to go the healthy route as well! Like what I tell my friends, slow and steady wins the race!

"But I took a pause for a bit because for a moment there, it wasn't feeling like I was doing it as a form of self- care anymore. It just seemed like a task I needed to prove I could accomplish."

Andi went sharing what she's learned: "Yet as I was taking that 'break,' fully embracing momhood, family time, and prioritising my well-being, I started to remember-- this is exactly how it all began for me the first time around!

"It's giving importance to the quality of the life I live, and taking care of myself, my body, my mind, and my soul, as a whole."

Andi happily reported, "I've been slowly easing my way back into this wholesome way of life and it's been feeling so good in the inside that I am motivated to keep goin. And now it just so happens to be showing on the outside too."

1. Discover what makes you feel relaxed. It could be as mundane as organizing your closet or taking long baths.

2. Write a "gratitude list." Jot down what made you smile or lighten your load today.

3. Exercise for at least 30 minutes. You owe it to your body to make it healthier.

4. Eat well. Choosing a balanced diet can help you feel stronger and ready to take on the day. Nuts, broccoli, and fatty fish are considered as “self-care foods.”

5. Don't be afraid to unplug. Like how we do it for our kids, limit your screen time by scheduling a digital detox.
